They're Back! And She's Black! Remember how I was worried they'd let the latest plot twist in the lives of Cloak & Dagger slip through the cracks? Not So! The new status quo continues, with Tandy & Ty having swapped powers, in upcoming issues of The Amazing Spider-man!
I was lucky enough to have a letter printed in their last outing in Cloak & Dagger: Spider-Island; then they fell into "comic book limbo" for a while. I couldn't bare to read that "Sabretooth Reborn" story... explaining how Victor Creed was beheaded yet returning from the dead... but I saw Cloak & Dagger were in it in their Previous Form, and wasn't sure When that story was taking place. And if the next creative team that used them would just "forget" what happened last. Really glad to see that's not the case!

Twin Tiers Comic-Con is On! Here's the dual-cover details on Subject To Change #4's Variant Cover, by Karulox Art! I went with the Classic MMPR Coloring for our unlimited Variant, while the Limited Edition uses New Colors, but includes the "It's Morphin Time!" word balloon. The Limited Edition is an Exclusive for T2C2, and only 20 hand-numbered copies exist! A few are already claimed, so there's actually only about 15 to be sold at the show. You can find us right at the Center of the Show. Literally, our table is at the very center of the showroom floor, # A23! See you there!

This one's for Everyone! This year is the 13th Anniversary of Divine Authority Comics' Midnight Warriors, and rather than put our celebratory variant cover on the first issue, we put it on #12 of the latest volume. This is the current issue of Midnight Warriors, it's the beginning of a new storyline, and for the first time in a long time, this issue is as close to All Ages as we ever get! This Variant Cover was drawn by Lindsay Mack, and the interior is by anime/manga-influenced artist Edgard Angelo Aedo The story is easily accessible, the art works well with the lighter tone, and there's no swearing or gore. You can check this out at Twin Tiers Comic-Con, along with everything else we've got to offer! Full details on T2C2, hitting Elmira's First Arena on August 15th & 16th, here: www.TwinTiersComicCon.com

Another excerpt from Lindsay Mack's Variant Cover, which kicked off the 13th Anniversary of "Midnight Warriors" at Divine Authority Comics! Selena & the Crew have never looked So Cute!!

Tying into our last post, this is the Regular Cover to Subject To Change #4, in all it's bear-i-ness! I’d previously shared it among other covers, but not on its own. This issue debuted at Charlotte Heroes Con in June, and we’ll have it with us at all of our upcoming conventions! Online availability is hopefully coming soon!

“… I’m Turning Into A Bear!!” This sequence was scripted for Subject To Change #4 over 2 years ago, but it wasn’t until Last Year that I changed a few words of the dialogue after overhearing the confusion of Elmira local comic fan Brian Luke learning an alternative definition of the term “Bear” from Brian Stoll. This led to weeks of commentary on the subject, lol. I at least wanted to make sure it was clearly obvious what Eric was panicking about in the opening pages, which showcase a flashback scene to the onset of Eric’s shape-shifting powers. And the comedy is in the fact that Eric is so quick to rationalize this with a natural explanation for something that is clearly so unnatural; not that he has much time to react, as he undergoes his first-ever transformation on the next page. He’s initially thinking of Werewolves, as he was amid watching a horror movie with Carla before this started, but as he discovers This and his mind wanders to “Bears”, he ends up turning into a Wolf-Bear Hybrid creature.

Joe Holley's Variant Cover for Divine Authority Comics' Killing The Habit #1 will be available at Twin Tiers Comic-Con! This Variant continues our celebration of the 13th Anniversary of Midnight Warriors, the series in which Killing The Habit's protagonist, Ray Vendel, debuted! If you're 18 or Older (sorry, strict rating on this one!), Get it signed by both Writer & Artist at the show! And we've still got a few copies left of the Black & White "Early Edition" from Charlotte Heroes Con left. They aren't hand-numbered, but we only printed about a dozen of them! See you at the show!

08/10/2015

Ka-Blam Digital Printing is ahead-of-schedule again! Our latest order, for new books dropping at Twin Tiers Comic-Con arrived over a week early! (It was here Thursday; I'm just late with posting, as always, lol). Rather than show you the cover I've been boasting for the past few days, how about this one?

The final color version of Joe Holley's Variant for Killing The Habit #1! This one commemorates the 13-Year Anniversary of Midnight Warriors; on the solo one-shot for Ray Vendel! If you're 18 or Older (sorry, strict rating on this one!), you can pick this up at T2C2 and get it Signed by both of us! Twin Tiers Comic-Con is Next Weekend, August 15th & 16th at the First Arena in Elmira, NY. Full details can be found on their site here: www.TwinTiersComicCon.com

Ok, time to pull back the curtain! Here is Divine Authority Comics' Variant Cover for Subject To Change #4; just in time for Twin Tiers Comic-Con Next Weekend!
Two of the Original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will be in attendance, so you can see how this Cover concept is a perfect pairing for the show! In addition to this regular Variant, we'll also have an Exclusive Variant Version, just for this show, Limited to 20 Copies! I'll unveil the Final Cover Art soon, with the Logos in place. But first, I just had to show off the untouched artwork on it's own, by the awesomely talented Karulox!
If his style looks familiar, that is because I also tapped him for Last Year's Variant; and maybe we'll keep the trend going & get him for Next Year, too! You can check out more of his work & give his Art Page a "Like" here: Karulox Art. And, of course, all things Divine Authority here: www.facebook.com/DivineAuthorityComics.

08/01/2015

... and another reference to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was in Midnight Warriors Annual #1 (2008), in the pin-ups section, where Edgard Aedo drew Ray Vendel dressed as the Green Ranger for Halloween!
In advance of Twin Tiers Comic-Con, where 2 of the Original Rangers will be guests, Divine Authority Comics will be unveiling a 3rd reference to MMPR in our books; if you hadn't already guessed by our tease! Lol. Check back This Weekend for the big Reveal, & in Two Weeks, it's T2C2 in Elmira, NY at the First Arena!

If you're a fan of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and live in the vicinity of Elmira, NY, you're not gonna want to miss Twin Tiers Comic-Con 2015, with 2 of the Original Rangers in attendance! Divine Authority Comics has several MMPR fans in their stable, with at least 2 shout-outs in past issues. This clip is from Midnight Warriors #1 (2nd Series, 2003). While Rita Repulsa actually has nothing to do with this monster's size-changing abilities (that is a peculiar origin you'd have to read to believe), we thought it'd be funny to pay tribute here by having some random woman throw her staff off the edge of a nearby building. Keep in mind, this was a long time ago, and we realize Rita's word balloon is horrible...
In the "Revisited" reprint of this issue, we did give a special thanks to Machiko Soga, who originally played Rita (Witch Bandora) on MMPR (Zyuranger), and had passed away in 2006.

This was *officially* the first book ever published by Divine Authority Comics. Like all of our books back then, this was a B&W folded-paper copy-shop book. And this one was small; the size you’d expect for an Ashcan. At this point, Jamie & I had already released the original Midnight Warriors #1-3 as “A. M. Comics”, so those characters pre-existed; but this was the first time we promoted –Girl!, Icebox & The Nameless One. This was a wraparound cover portraying all of the characters crossing over, but the interior contained separate promotional material for each of their upcoming books. We also did 2 larger magazine-size flip-books which contained preview pages from each of the 4 books. I won’t torture you with the covers to those, lol. Jim’s probably cringing just seeing this one resurface. I used to do some inking when we were on a time crunch, and while this one didn’t turn out too bad; those flip-books were really lacking…

2015 is the 13th Year since "Midnight Warriors" was first published back in 2002! While the current volume approaches the release of Midnight Warriors #13, there have also been Annuals, Specials, and the previous Volume of the Series, which started it all! 13 was just the Perfect Year to celebrate an Anniversary for This Series!

07/04/2015

13 Years of Midnight Warriors! A True Milestone for Divine Authority Comics, and I couldn’t have done it without the Help of Many, Many Artists over the Years, working to keep this Series Alive! I tried to capture some of the biggest contributors here; they all produced Interior Artwork for the Series at some point in its History; and a Few are still contributing Today! Stephen Holcomb II, Edgard Aedo, Victor Medina, John Sowder, Bekkouri Ikbal, & Fran Ros, along with my original collaborators/co-creators: Jamie Apgar, Jim Sullivan, & Andy Sullivan! No simple little post can elaborate on everything you’ve done, or express my gratitude to you, but know that your efforts will continue to live on!!

I know your Timeline is probably on LGBT Overload today, but just had to say this is Incredible News, and we couldn't be Happier! If you are familiar with our books, you know we've advocated this, specifically in "Subject To Change" (http://cmxl.gy/LrO47B), and this decision of the U.S. Supreme Court has just leveled the playing field when it comes to Equal treatment under the law. Somehow I am equally surprised to hear the Positive decision becoming a Reality, yet also surprised it took the U.S. so long to catch up with the rest of the World!

It's Official! SUBJECT TO CHANGE #1 & 2 are NOW both Available on ComiXology! You can find them at the direct link Here: http://cmxl.gy/LrO47B. If you happen to pick up one or both, be sure to give a Star Rating if you Like what you Read! Thanks!

SUBJECT TO CHANGE #2 is Coming to ComiXology TOMORROW!! I got the alert this past weekend at Heroes Con and didn't get a chance to post it. Issue #1 is already available, and the new issue will be added to those available at This Link sometime Tomorrow: http://cmxl.gy/LrO47B

The 2nd Variant Cover in Divine Authority Comics' Celebration of the Midnight Warriors 13th Anniversary goes to Killing The Habit #1! This is the stand-alone 40-page one-shot starring Ray Vendel, who debuted in Midnight Warriors, facing his inner demons in a way unlike anything you’ve ever seen in a comic book. The artist of this Variant is Joe Holley; and he also drew a new pin-up for the interior. Joe’s got an incredible style, very unique, and perfect for Horror. We decided to run a Black & White version of this cover, not just because there was a time crunch to get it in-hand before Charlotte Heroes Convention, but also because there is a dynamic enough difference between the Black & White presentation and Color, when it comes to Joe’s lineart. This one’s tagged the “Early Edition”; the Color Version will be arriving later this year at Twin Tiers Comic-Con!!

06/18/2015

This Weekend at Charlotte Heroes Convention, Divine Authority Comics will debut a Variant Cover to commemorate the 13th Anniversary of our flagship title, Midnight Warriors! This issue is a great jumping-on point for New Readers, featuring the beginning of a new storyline for our team of supernatural superheroes! We’ll also have our back-issues on-hand for anyone interested in seeing where it all began. ;-) See you at the Show!

06/13/2015

It's a nice feeling to have our latest issues in-hand more than a week in advance of our upcoming convention ( Heroes Con!!!!!!! / Charlotte Heroes Convention / Heroes Convention), instead of getting down-to-the-wire with the delivery like we usually do, lol. Ka-Blam Digital Printing even sent them a whole week prior to the ship-by date we chose (we got these books on Tuesday), so that's even better than we planned! Can't wait for the Con!

((And yes, there is more to tell about what's seen in this photo, but I'm trying to keep my posts Shorter. You all agree I "talk" too much!))

This Year is the 13th Anniversary of Divine Authority Comics, but we’re putting the focus on it being the 13th Anniversary of the Midnight Warriors!! So far, we haven’t celebrated *any* Anniversary of our characters, and it’s only fitting that the 13th really goes to Midnight Warriors. Midnight Warriors is our supernatural, horror-edged flagship title, which debuted in 2002. While it originated with a 3-issue volume under the publishing banner of “A. M. Comics” in 2002, “Divine Authority Comics” was formed later that year, and the series soon continued with a new volume. And while I’m going by the publishing date, we were actually working on the characters’ & series’ for years previous. It’s hard to pin a date on it, but I am going to say Fall of 2000. The core characters of “Midnight Warriors” were co-created by Mark McCracken & Jamie Apgar. As the series progressed, further characters were co-created with Jim Sullivan & Andy Sullivan collaborating as well. You’ll be seeing a lot of “Retro Updates” on our Timeline, reflecting on “Way Back When”, as well as what to look forward to for “Midnight Warriors” in the future!

Here is the first of our Midnight Warriors 13th Anniversary Variants! This one was drawn by artist Lindsay Mack, and exemplifies the celebration at hand! I met Lindsay last year at an event at Let's Play @ Fatman Comics and Games, and saw her youthful interpretation of their crew, so I asked her to do the same with our cast! I chose to apply this Variant Cover to Midnight Warriors #12, as that is our most recent Jumping-On Point for New Readers! This issue kicked-off our multi-part event, "Time & Time Again", which sees our heroes torn away to various timelines, uncovering hidden truths about their origins, and finally facing an enemy that has been lurking in the shadows around them since the very beginning!

There's not much Text in this article, or Source information, but are we going to be seeing this soon in several prominent locations? If it's just one poster, and they intended to market it only in relation to their film products in a smaller capacity, then maybe it's acceptable. But if this is the new Marvel Universe promo art to be broadcast everywhere all year long and on the Con Circuit, then WTF, Marvel?? After last week's FX-Washing of Secret Wars, removing all Fantastic 4 & X-men characters from the 80's Secret Wars Covers, this is clearly doing the same to this MASSIVE representation of the Marvel Universe with plenty of room for a few of those characters in this assemblage. If Marvel really thinks they are helping their situation by doing this, they're just kicking X-men fans to the curb. And without X-men, Marvel wouldn't have made it as far as they have. Could you imagine the early 90's without the X-books? Marvel was banking on them 100%. And now we're going to have the Scarlet Witch saying "No More X-men"? This isn't going to hurt the Fox X-men movies, it's going to hurt Marvel; there's going to be ill-will toward them for this...

I haven't finished Daredevil yet (I'm halfway through; no binge-watching for me!), but I'm already looking forward to A.K.A. JESSICA JONES! I was following the news for this series ever since it was in "development hell" with ABC, since I was a fan of "Alias" from Day 1. Yes, on Day 1 I thought it was based on the Jennifer Garner TV series of the same name, but quickly found out otherwise! Considering the tone I've seen in Daredevil, I am really hoping they stay true to the source material for Jessica Jones. Killgrave & "Violet" are reminding me of "Purple".
And, I've never seen Krysten Ritter in a serious role before, so I am hoping she comes off in the seriously bitchy tone of Jessica Jones, not the comically bitchy tone of the B--- in Apt. 23!
I actually like this Photo better than the Teaser Poster one, lol.
