ATTENTION HARDIN COUNTY!

Anyone who purchased kerosene in the last few days please check to insure it’s actually kerosene. The HCSO is investigating a incident involving a house fire that resulted when the owner purchased kerosene from a kerosene pump and it is believed to actually be gasoline. This can be extremely dangerous.

If you feel this has happened to you, please contact Deputy Sallee at the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

Below is the press release we sent out to our media partners regarding the five armed robberies that occurred on Friday evening in Elizabethtown. This type of criminal behavior WILL NOT be tolerated. Please look out for one another and report any suspicious circumstances you may observe.

On the evening of Friday, March 4th 2022, we responded to five separate armed robberies. All robberies occurred between approximately 7:45 pm and 8:30 pm as the victims were exiting their vehicle in parking lots at various locations within the city.

The specific offense locations are as follows:

-1111 North Dixie
-1704 North Dixie (two offenses occurred at this location)
-324 Towne Dr
-109 Noltemeyer Way

All victims shared similar accounts indicating they were approached by a young black male wearing a face covering, dark clothing, and armed with a handgun. The suspect ordered each victim to hand over all possessed valuables. At the conclusion of the first four robberies, the suspect fled the scene in a dark colored Cadillac SRX being driven by a second accomplice. At the conclusion of the fifth robbery, the suspect fled the scene in the victims light grey 2020 Dodge Challenger. The stolen vehicle has still not been recovered.

At this time, the suspects have not been identified though detective’s are actively pursuing leads. Unfortunately, similar crimes have occurred in surrounding counties and are all likely connected.

The purpose of this statement is not to cause unnecessary alarm but instead to encourage vigilance. Citizens should be aware of their surroundings and watch out for one another at all times. Anyone who is out after dark should attempt to avoid poorly lit parking lots and consider traveling in pairs. Anyone who observes activity they deem suspicious should report it immediately.

THE ROADS ARE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS!! We're working numerous crashes, mostly on overpasses, ramps, and bridges that are covered in ice. Please slow WAY down, increase stopping, turning, and following distances, and expect to encounter ice in these areas. Conditions should improve as temperatures increase later in the day, but for now it's extremely hazardous.
