THE NEXT EPISODE DROPS AT 12AM! Listen while fighting your insomnia or on your way to work tomorrow morning!

Synopsis:
In season 2, Doug and Nick are engaging the Brethren in Christ core values. The Brethren in Christ (BIC) started as a small Anabaptist denomination in Pennsylvania almost 250 years ago, that has grown to become a global denomination across several continents and many countries. You can learn about them at www.bicus.org. Today they're looking at value #3 - "Worshipping God"

The guys are asking 5 questions of each core value and encourage you to follow along and determine if these could be your Core Values too. The 5 questions they're asking are:
1. What does this core value mean? (Define it)
2. What is your experience with it?
3. How does it impact your relationships?
4. Do you have any problems with it?
5. Why is this value important to our faith?

Book References:
"Focusing Our Faith - Brethren in Christ Core Values" edited by Terry Brensinger

As always we invite people to engage here on the page for further conversation, questions and debate!

Season 2 | Episode One: The Space Between is trying something a little different for season two - release, with great regularity rather than complete spontaneity, our episodes each month (on the 15th) which means pre-recording episodes.

This episode was recorded exactly 4 months ago. Which means that we were catching up before the 2nd COVID lock down, after the 1st presidential debate, prior to the election .... and we're talking about all that stuff and more. Fascinating to listen to our predictions about these things and see how they aged.

We hope you enjoy catching up with us and once again we look forward to further dialogue here on our page. Lets lean in as a community rather than away.

Welcome to the Space Between.

The Underground Bunker was alive with conversation regarding where we are in our spiritual lives. On a previous episode Nick mentioned that he was not a Universalist and Doug mentioned that perhaps he was a Buddhist. And although this particular episode was on our upcoming roster we felt that this may be the appropriate time to jump in. We encourage you to consider where you might be in your own Spiritual Journey ... how would you describe your influences and your particular theological understandings?

We hope that this page can be a safe place to find like minds, ask questions, share thoughts or push back on some of what we've said.
Welcome to The Space Between.

|Episode drops at 7am| For hours the underground bunker ... ahem, I mean studio ... was full of conversation regarding deconstruction, stories, analogies and more. And that was before the "record" button was ever hit. On this episode the guys discuss what deconstruction is, why it might be important, share some stories, some word pictures and their thoughts on the importance of making sure that construction is a part of the process. They give some tips on what might be helpful if you are in the process of deconstruction now and invite ongoing dialogue with listeners. Welcome to The Space Between.

This morning the guys come to you from deep in the underground studio where they're far from the public in order to talk about COVID-19. Specifically, what role does the church need to play in this pandemic. The conversation includes perspectives from a pastor (Nick) and from a health care worker (Doug) about our social responsibility, social needs and how we can get creative. There are no real answers here ... just honest and open dialogue about where we are today in this historical moment.

We hope that this page can be a safe place to find like minds, ask questions, share thoughts or push back on some of what we've said.

On this episode the guys discuss the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. The WQ is a process by which a person my run a question or decision through several filters. The guys talk about each element and then add one of their own - making this the Wesleyan Quadra-quint. Episode 12 - "Questioning Evangelicalism" is out. If you've stumbled upon this page then you likely did so because you listened to episode 12. We intentionally engaged the idea of scriptural inerrancy, the doctrine of original sin, penal substitutionary atonement and politics.

We hope that this page can be a safe place to find like minds, ask questions, share thoughts or push back on some of what we've said.
