When it comes to topics regarding issues involving women’s mental health and body image, it can be perceived as a taboo conversation in different environments. AS IF! Leave it to the brave women of the Sun City to not only highlight the importance of these conversations but create a space where they are encouraged.

On Feb. 24 the actress Alicia Silverstone visited El Paso to be a keynote speaker for the Junior League of El Paso's 2nd Annual Women's Wellness Summit.

The sound of cars speeding down the freeway is heard daily, but on Lincoln Park Day, those sounds are muffled by the sound of conversations about paint jobs, engines and car meets. Across the park, brightly painted cars, merchant tents and lawn chairs are occupied by car enthusiasts, merchandise and people of all ages. Many are dressed in Chicano fashion from zoot suits to buttoned-down flannels.

Si uno camina por la intersección de las calles Franklin y North Mesa en el centro de El Paso, será imposible ignorar el colorido mural de un puma que se postra ominoso sobre los transeúntes a su alrededor. Today is Election Day! 🗳️

Incumbent Texas Governor Greg Abbott and gubernatorial candidate, and El Paso-native, Beto O’Rourke made stops in the Sun City while early voting was taking place to encourage voters before Election Day. Energizing younger voters can be what plays one of the biggest roles during the 2022 midterm elections, and the candidates took two distinctly different approaches to their visits.

In between gray rock walls and beneath the sweat-inducing glare of the noon El Paso sun in 2020, David Gámez, a student at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and leader of UTEP’s Blockchain Miner’s Club, trekked down a concrete pathway to a desert-toned door. He had been knocking on every door in an East El Paso neighborhood, a requirement of his day job prior to the era of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the time, Gámez worked for a local solar panel company as a sales representative selling solar panels. He would go knocking door to door to earn, at some times, $6,000 from commission.

“Those deals… they can treat you really nice or you can go a while without making (anything),” Gámez said.

He was good for a while, he said. That is until the COVID-19 pandemic reached El Paso.

Fans across the Sun City gathered at the Don Haskins Center on 151 Glory Road, Monday, Aug. 8, for the band Big Time Rush’s Forever Tour.

After splitting in 2013 to pursue solo careers, the band reunited and began releasing new music in 2021. Before the split, Big Time Rush had a Nickelodeon sitcom that ran for four seasons between 2009 and 2013. The band released three albums in that time period.

Though the concert started at 8 p.m., fans began waiting outside hours before, with lines hugging the curb and extending down North Mesa Street toward Village Inn, a few blocks away. Some fans had been waiting months to hear the recently reconnected band sing live.

All in order to bring relief to these animals that spend a majority of their time packed together, with numbers almost three-times what the shelter was built to house.

Rescue Runners is meant to enrich dogs, helps release energy and gets them acclimated to being in a more social environment, around other dogs and people.

The weekly event takes place Sunday mornings 8 a.m.-10 a.m.

FitFam is what you want it to be. Or at least, that’s what their bio said.

The account with over 175,000 followers as of May 2021, had initially existed as a fitness account dedicated to workouts, workout-related memes, and occasionally other city-related jokes until the account began to receive many submissions from local El Pasoans. So now, its a mix of everything.

If you scroll far enough, you’ll find that the account’s Instagram feed features images and videos about the El Paso shootings, car accidents, police reports, weather updates, local protests, COVID-19 updates, and memes.

Because of this, El Pasoans might look to FitFam for the latest updates on breaking news.

So, who is the team behind the masks?
