Where is the Valley of the Kings In Egypt?
The Valley of the Kings is situated on the west bank of the Nile in Luxor, 25 km from the train station. It is one of the necropolises that together with the city of Thebes are classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
What is the Valley of the Kings?
It is a necropolis of ancient Egypt, in the vicinity of Luxor, where the tombs of most of the pharaohs of the New Kingdom (18th, 19th and 20th dynasties), as well as several queens, princes, nobles and even some animals.
It was inaugurated by Thutmose I, the third pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, which around 1500 BC, ordered the royal architect Inani, the construction of his tomb in the greatest of secrets.
It is believed that it was originally intended to be used as a family tomb, but with successive changes in power, and the construction of new tombs, the valley became a necropolis that remained in use for more than 400 years.
The Valley of the Kings is made up of two parts: the East Valley and the West Valley. The former is one of the most visited places by tourists and is where most of the tombs are found.
What type of structure is the Valley of the Kings?
All the Valley tombs are different, but according to their structure they can be divided into two main groups.
The oldest ones are steep and start with a straight corridor. After several corridors and stairs, the corridor turns to the left and it is there that the burial chamber is located. This type of tomb was built during the 18th Dynasty.
The second type of tomb is completely straight and has little slope, it is like a long corridor, with stairs, corridors and rooms one behind the other. This type of tomb was the one that was built during the 19th and 20th Dynasties.
The tombs, no matter what type they are, are decorated with reliefs and fragments from the Book of the Dead and other funerary texts.
These texts are like a kind of travel guide to get to the Other World, since they explain to the Pharaoh what was the path he had to follow and how to overcome the obstacles that could be presented to him.
In this way the pharaoh could be sure that his soul would arrive intact to the Hereafter to live eternally.

An 11-year-old girl in Ghor Province, Afghanistan sits beside her fiancΓ©, estimated to be in his late 40s, at their engagement ceremony shortly before the couple"s marriage in 2005.
Twenty years after the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan, which ousted the Taliban from power, the world is witnessing one of the most dramatic rollbacks of women"s rights in recent history. Shortly after the Taliban"s advancement, reports quickly began to emerge detailing war crimes and targeted violence against women and young girls, including kidnappings, beatings, and forced "marriages" of young girls to Taliban fighters.
"My heart is tearing into pieces. For centuries we were the victims of wars as children, as teenagers, as mothers. Always as women. We don"t want to be slaves to be beaten and abused," Jamila, an Afghan journalist, shared. "We don"t want these 20 years of progress to just go, wash away..."
For decades, Afghanistan"s women and girls courageously pursued freedoms and opportunities they were encouraged to fully embrace. Jamila"s chilling testimony illustrates the collective trauma from prior Taliban repression, when public lashings and executions were part of daily life, girls couldn"t go to school beyond age 12, and women were stripped of nearly all individual rights. Today, with the nation sinking deeper into cruel tyranny, Afghan women fear the worst. "We don"t want to die like that. We won"t give up."

Jade burial suits, ceremonial garments of ancient China, were crafted with thousands of small jade pieces intricately sewn using gold or silver thread. Dating back to the early Western Han dynasty around the 4th century BC, these suits symbolized purity, integrity, and longevity, adorning high-ranking individuals in burial rites. πŸ”ΈA 3400 YEAR-OLD MINOAN TOMB HAS BEEN UNCOVERED IN AN UNNAMED FARMER’S OLIVE GROVE NEAR IERAPETRA ON THE GREEK ISLAND OF CRETE - GREECE.
An extraordinary example of being in the wrong place at the right time, a Greek farmer just made a startling archaeological discovery.
A 3400 year-old Minoan tomb was uncovered in an unnamed farmer’s olive grove near the city of Ierapetra on the Greek island of Crete. According to Cretapost, the farmer was attempting to park his car underneath an olive tree when suddenly the ground beneath him began to sink.
The farmer pulled his car out from under the tree and noticed that a huge hole which measured around four feet wide had opened up where his car had been sitting. When he peeked into the hole, the farmer knew he had stumbled upon something special.
He called the local heritage ministry, Lassithi Ephorate of Antiquities, to investigate.

β€’Covering almost all of Mount Hohenzollern"s summit, is a structure composed of four primary parts: military architecture, palatial buildings, chapels, and gardens.
β€’The first castle on the mountain was constructed in the early 11th century.
β€’This castle was completely destroyed in 1423 after a ten-month siege by the free imperial cities of Swabia.
β€’The second castle was constructed from 1454 to 1461.
β€’By the end of the 18th century it was thought to have lost its strategic importance and gradually fell into disrepair, leading to the demolition of several dilapidated buildings.
β€’The third, and current, castle was built between 1846 and 1867 as a family memorial by Hohenzollern scion King Frederick William IV of Prussia.
