Important announcement concerning the next SHOCK CINEMA:

Unfortunately, due to an unexpected medical situation, the next issue of SHOCK CINEMA is temporarily on hold. For the last several months, I’ve had increased problems with my eyesight, which has made working at a computer for 8 to 12 hours per day incredibly difficult. After recent appointments with a couple different eye doctors, I’ve learned that I will be needing cataract surgery in both eyes. This isn’t a huge surprise, since I’ve been wearing corrective lens since I was six years old and have also had a history of serious eye infections beginning in my early-20s, with doctors warning me that my bouts of iritis could cause longterm damage.

Still, the idea of this upcoming surgery is absolutely freaking me out and I’m depressed as hell, but there aren’t any other options since these problems will only increase the longer I wait. Anna and I are currently scheduling the surgeries (they do one eye at a time, two weeks apart), as well as the numerous required post-surgery doctors’ visits -- which will take us throughout June. So work on #65 has essentially come to a standstill for now, as I prepare for the procedures, then recuperate. I’ll get back to the next SHOCK CINEMA as soon as possible. In the meantime, any customer orders for the current or back issues will be processed as usual. Thanks for your patience and wish me luck.

Our initial freight shipment of SHOCK CINEMA #64 has finally arrived (after sitting in a Toledo, Ohio service depot for five days over the Christmas holiday). The new issue looks good and I’ll be spending the entire New Year’s weekend stuffing, sealing and stamping subscription orders -- which will all go into the mail next week.

A Long Overdue Update: SHOCK CINEMA #64. The new issue is currently at the printer. We approved the match print on Monday evening and, so far, everything looks good. Now it's just waiting to see when the magazine actually goes to press, then into the bindery... The SC website’s main page [www.shockcinemamagazine.com] has also been updated, so that anyone who doesn’t already have a subscription can pre-order #64.

Update: SHOCK CINEMA #62. I just wanted to let everyone know that the new issue is currently at the printer. We’re waiting to approve the matchprint, which is scheduled to arrive today, so it’ll still be a few weeks until we have finished issues.

Unfortunately, there’s also some bad news. For the first time since 1995, we’ve increased SHOCK CINEMA’s cover price. I’d been considering it for the last several years, since printing costs slowly kept rising with each issue. But a big hike became an absolute necessity starting with #62 when our printer suddenly hit us with a whopping 22% (!) price increase compared to only six months ago. Yikes!

If you don’t already have a subscription, you’ll be able to pre-order your copy of SC #62 later this week at: www.shockcinemamagazine.com.
