As he recovered, he continued to record his experiences "in country." Those writings form the main part of this memoir some fifty years later—battles, heroes, everyday bravery, losing the friend right beside you, and larger than life leaders—told simply and forthrightly of valor and patriotism.

It’s nearly November and that means NaNoWriMo—the fabulous month of novel writing known as National Novel Writing Month! It’s a supportive community, it gives badges and encouragement, and it will provide structure to you to get that first draft of that debut or next novel out of your head! That’s a lot! Actually, it is an official 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, so it’s a real thing!

According to the NaNoWriMo website, nearly 368,000 novels have
come through their event over the years. And, oh yes, it is FREE!
Christian Warren Freed, a Write Way author, is supporting NaNoWriMo in his own way indirect way. He’s doing a KDP FREE e-book promotion for two non-fiction books he has written based on his extensive writing experiences. He’s the author of more than two dozen fantasy fiction books plus a few non-fiction books. He writes with humor but pulls no punches on the real world of writing and what happens “next” in his “So” books.

Middle grade children’s book author Frank Saraco’s latest book, Light in the Shadow, won second place in middle grade books from the distinguished Purple Dragonfly awards. This is the second book in the RAK Initiative Trilogy. The first book in the trilogy, Life in the Grand Pause was a finalist in Juvenile Books with the prestigious INDE Book Awards and winner of five other book awards. The third and final book in the series is underway. Mules and Books! Benson, NC, is famous for its annual Mule Days Festival that historically draws as many as 20,000 visitors to the town. A parade, rides, food, and vendors make for a good time.
