This little trio of seramas want a new mom. They will be 6 weeks old tomorrow and it is a bonded group of 2 females and a male. They are dirty because my chickens like to roll around in the dirt. 🤷🏻‍♀️

New seeds arrived from Baker Creek! I am tired of fighting with the squash vine borer, so i ordered 2 varieties (a summer squash & a winter squash) that aren't typically affected by them to try planting. Plus I ordered a new variety that originates from south America that I wanted to try. And they included a pack of Pink Amaranth for free!

This is about half of my squash patch. Which is amazing and also a bit overwhelming.

Truthfully, this isn't even my squash patch, it's actually my compost area and all of these are volunteer plants.

Just a reminder that while you are waiting for you squash to ripen that all of these beautiful leaves, and in fact, the entire plant is edible. The blossoms can be stuffed and fried or added fresh to garnish a salad.

The leaves can be sliced, de-stemmed and cooked like greens or spinach. They can also be stuffed like cabbage or grape leaves. They can be added to smoothies. They can be pureed and added into fruit/sweet breads, muffins, etc. They can be dehydrated, ground and added to homemade green powder, vegetable seasoning, etc.

And if you don't love using them in any of those ways, as you prune, you can put them down around other garden plants to use as a mulch, add them to black soldier fly bins or feed them to your livestock. From personal experience I know that rabbits, quail & chickens will eat them and I would imagine that goats, pigs, guinea pigs and others would love them as well.

Fresh from the vine...mini yellow watermelon. So sweet, I didn't even wait for it to chill before I ate it. Of course I started it from heirloom seeds and best believe I kept the seeds from this one, to plant next year.

I have been researching and considering getting rabbits over the past few months. 3 weeks ago, I felt that I had done all the research that I could do and I brought home a breeding pair. 2 days after that, I was able to find an 8 week old silver fox doe. Once full grown, she will complete my breeding trio.

This is my buck. He is the sweetest thing.

The adult doe was already bred when I brought her home, so about 12 days after I brought home my breeding pair, I also welcomed 8 kits. 😍
