A Shippensburg Township man, who was reported missing by Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg, Sunday night, was found safe Monday morning in Carroll Township.

Carroll Township Police Sgt. David Smith confirmed Kore Byler, 82, was discovered sitting inside his truck stuck in a detention pond behind Northern Elementary School by a custodian at 5:45 a.m.

Smith said the call was dispatched as a car in water - since the detention pond was filled with water, and water was half way up the wheels of the pick up.

A water rescue team from Monroe Township Fire Company, equipped wet suits and boats assisted, Smith said.

By 6:15 a.m. Byler was loaded into the ambulance and taken to Holy Spirit Hospital, Smith said, where the family was notified.
“We are still trying to figure out when he got in there,” Smith said.

State Police said Byler was last seen 1:30 p.m. in the area of Roxybury Road, Shippensburg.
