Vocal students from the Departments of Jazz and Musical Theatre will perform for guest clinician Sunny Wilkinson in a master class setting.

A century ago, a 12 year old Siberian Husky named Togo, was responsible for doing the brunt of the pull of a 500 mile lifesaving journey in January of 1925. With temperatures of 30 degrees below 0, more than 20 mushers set up a relay to transport the antitoxin serum needed in Nome, Alaska to fight an epidemic of diphtheria. Even though Togo had completed the longest and most dangerous part of the route, it was a husky named Balto who led the final team of dogs into Nome with the life-saving medicine and became a national hero. This historic trek is commemorated each year by The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, aka "the last great race".
We believe it is a humble honor to carry TOGO's name and we draw inspiration from his legacy as we work together to support artists and foster community connections!

Today, the team at TOGO Touring Artists and Smokin' Sleddog Records honor and embrace the rich tapestry of our Native American Tribal Communities and their profound impact on American culture. In Michigan, a state that derives its name from the Ottawa word "mishigami", meaning “big lake” or “great water", we are reminded daily of the significance of the land and the indigenous people who have shaped it. As we traverse through our cities and towns we honor the legacies of these communities and their enduring contributions and are reminded of the importance of diversity and representation in the arts and beyond.
