Since Social Media turns most of us into amateur journalists, it’s beneficial to review Jim Lehrer’s rules ‘from a gentler time.’
The rules are similar for marketing writers.
Most important- in my opinion - is respect the intelligence of your readers.
And be honest or you’ll get your ass sued!

I adopted my son at birth knowing he had a genetic disorder. He is now 6 and non verbal but uses sign for communication. We are fostering a beautiful deafie boxer girl (soon to be adopted!). She is amazing with my son. She is the most gentle, loving girl ever. The most BEAUTIFUL part of this adoption is my son and his dog can actually talk to each other! I highly encourage adoption of deaf dogs ... She is such a perfect addition to our family. We have been blessed with Ellie.

You can always find something to complain about. But if you do so habitually, that is probably hurting you, bringing down others, and making you a less attractive person to be around, Arthur C. Brooks advises.

People are grumbling a lot more lately. American customers today are more than twice as likely to complain about a product or service as they were in 1976; workplace grievances are increasing, according to one study; researchers found that headlines denoting anger, fear, disgust, and sadness have risen consistently since 2000. And research shows that misery loves company. On social media, negative messages are far more likely to be shared than positive ones, Brooks notes. “People and organizations that depend on audience size have a market incentive to complain—and to infect you with that negativity.”
