Glik v. Cunniffe" (2011) Significance: The court emphasized that recording law enforcement in public, without interfering with their duties, is a constitutionally protected act. The ruling made clear that simply recording does not amount to harassment, obstruction, or interference unless it actively impedes police work.

Also these cases: Fields v. City of Philadelphia (2017) – The Third Circuit reaffirmed the First Amendment right to record public officials performing their duties in public spaces.

Turner v. Driver (2017) – The Fifth Circuit recognized that the right to record police is protected by the First Amendment. Florida’s "Halo Law" requires that one of the following conditions (interference, threat, harassment, etc.) be met before the 25-foot order is enforceable. However, the federal precedent suggests that merely standing and recording—without making threats or physical interference—does not meet the threshold of harassment or obstruction.

In Fields v. City of Philadelphia, the court stated that merely being present and recording did not justify law enforcement action unless the recorder's actions crossed into physically disruptive behavior.

It’s just Frickin Media going around filming businesses and government buildings in downtown Mount Clemens. These are the same individuals who were involved in an altercation with the former Utica Police Sergeant Detective, which resulted in his retirement from the department in 2022.
