We here at the incident page highlight issues that could cause harm to the citizens of Detroit or the fire department employees. Around the ol coffee pot this morning a very interesting topic was brought up.

Apparently a city council members family needed 911. However whatever happened there was an issue with manpower.

The jerk reaction was to force fire mfr response on every priority 1 in the area.

Where here at the incident page applaud progressive moves forward, however this is another step in the wrong direction

There is something called uhu unit hours utilization .

Increasing fire uhu is damaging and dangerous especially to dual role who will end up on the ambulance and up for 24 hours

Because something happens to a person in power doesn’t mean the system should change in a knee jerk way. Talk to your road crews and work things out

Medic 55 20+ min eta

Last night a 7 year old was in cardiac arrest. A unit was being sent across the city to the run with a reported 17 minute eta to the run. Luckily a medic unit in the area heard the run go out stopped their paperwork and came in to take it.

The mayor was supposed to sign into effect a new policy where single role ems would start to be hired again this week. This would fix the problems we’re having in 5 weeks

Mfrs can’t transport the saying the city has used in the past “a unit is coming” is an mfr unit that can’t transport

They will wait with you while an ambulance comes from across the city

Trained people with experience keep asking when that’s going to happen

Not everyone wants to do fire and they won’t come until they can just be ems

This city DESERVES highly trained people responding in a normal timeframe

Reminder mfrs can not transport. The mfr time to response is a lie

7,13,20,23,27 all down on day shift.

Before the new contract there was usually 1-27 open and sometimes a 28 with overtime. In a few weeks we are losing around 40 people when they start their fire service training. I’m curious how the department would look if someone talked to the membership a year ago and found that this system didn’t work. Maybe the bleeding would be stopped and units that were historically open and filling massive gaps would still be open

13 and 20 fill pretty large gaps in coverage 13 covering the area in between their station up to 7 mile

20 covering up towards 6 and Woodward and a back up to one of the largest and busiest areas m16 as well as 20 being the normal mutual aid truck for highland park

7 and 27 add trucks in high volume areas to assist with busy areas. M2 next to m7 at times has been the most dangerous intersection in the country.

23 covers the gap along Jefferson into the pointes.

So for the they are overtime trucks comment. They were normal shifts and outside of 27 all have houses they run at in areas that need assistance

More trucks is the answer not less

Any more hate on this page results in an immediate ban. People are allowed to call 911 for whatever they want. It is a public provided service and we will not tolerate anymore abuse towards people using the system. A higher up said he doesn’t care how many people quit. He has more to replace them. That’s the problem! We don’t care if someone calls for the flu. You don’t know their Socioeconomical situation nor is it your place to judge
