We will hear music by The Grass Roots, The Sidewinders, Ricky Nelson and The Stone Canyon Band, Hardkandy, and more groovy stuff!
Plus a musical salute to Jonathan Paley who passed this week. One song Jonathan performs along side The Ramones from the movie Rock n’ Roll High School.

Mr.Paley got his start in the late ‘60s as leader of the Sidewinders a Boston-based power-pop band which included Billy Squire on guitar and opened for Boston and other popular rock bands.
With his brother Jonathan he created the pop duo the Paley Brothers that toured with the heart throb Shaun Cassidy.

“Influenced by studio wizards like Phil Spector, Mr. Paley also produced songs for numerous performers, including Debbie Harry, K.D. Lang, NRBQ, Little Richard and Brenda Lee. In the 1980s, he began to produce for Seymour Stein, the visionary label chief of Sire Records”.

Musician, singer, songwriter, producer and more, he collaborated with Madonna and a raft of other artists and helped resuscitate the career of the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson.

There have been some greats album cover shots over the years.
Certainly nothing here is posed including the “stars”.
Just some dudes who joined along to play some great music. Plus the legendary jazz bassist Ray Brown, wild man Rick Derringer plays some mean slide on Showbiz Kids, another jazz player Victor Feldman on vibes and Marimba.
Had tickets to see them twice “back in day” The Dan where a no-shows both times! Bummer.

I sent for this Marshall Crenshaw album around 1980. No real cover, just this paper sleeve. Marshall autographed this 12” single in 2011 when he was at KFMG for an on-air interview. I attended his show later that evening at the old People’s Court.
Marshall’s brother is also in the trio.

Their TV debut on Letterman 1982.
