North Emerson Street Rezoning Hearing Moved to Jan. 8
Denver City Council will hear public comment this Monday on a rezoning request for 5107-5135 N. Emerson St., adjacent to Carpio Sanguinette Park.
The required hearing, originally scheduled for Nov. 27 and then rescheduled for Dec. 4., is now set for Jan. 8

City and Denver Park Trust Secure Funding to Expand ‘Pocket Park’ at 4400 Pearl St.
The Denver Park Trust (DPT) wants equitable access to parks in Denver, said DPT Executive Director Frank Rowe, including a park within a 10-minute walk or roll from every resident in Denver. And it is preparing to make its biggest investment since its founding in 2019 to do just that in Globeville.

Tierra Colectiva and GES Coalition Intend to Purchase Vacant Land for Food Forest
"The GES Coalition held a food sale Dec. 2 to raise funds to acquire a vacant plot of land in Swansea. The property, located at 4790 Josephine St., if acquired by Tierra Colectiva Community Land Trust, would transform into a food forest and community space and would be purchased in collaboration by the GES Coalition, Tierra Colectiva and Tierras Verdes."

Ready, Set, Count: Birders Gear Up for Audubon Christmas Bird Count
"On Jan. 1, the annual Audubon Christmas Bird count will occur for the 123rd year.
Participants will meet in the parking lot just north of the City of Cuernavaca Park at 8:30 a.m. and progress along the South Platte River to Riverside Cemetery. First, they will walk through Commons Park to Confluence Park in Cherry Creek, then drive to Globeville Landing Park. The plan is to stop at the Kind Coffee Shop on 15th Street around 9:45 a.m. for refreshments and then continue to Carpio Sanguinette Park. Weather permitting, the birders will then make their way to Riverside Cemetery."

A new educational destination, now open in north Denver.
Community Meeting Dec. 21, City to Convert Radisson Hotel into House1000 Shelter
The city will hold a required informational community meeting about its plans to begin using the Radisson Hotel at 4849 N. Bannock St. for a non-congregate shelter as part of Mayor Mike Johnston’s House1000 initiative.
The city will present its plan for what it called Residential Care (Type 4) housing at the meeting on Thursday, Dec. 21, from 6-7 p.m. at Johnson Recreation Center (4809 Race St.).
