Sunday just before 4 p.m., the Bonner Co. Sheriff's Office told me a plane crashed into Priest Lake at Cavanaugh Bay in Coolin, ID. Two adults and one young boy were on board. All were hospitalized, but BCSO said the injuries are non-life threatening.
The plane, still sitting in the lake, caught the attention of plenty of lake-goers Monday. BCSO said the plane will stay where it is until the FAA and NTSB conclude their investigations of the crash. It's reported that the plane is not leaking fuel into the water.
It took nearly a year and a half to bring a homeless encampment in the east central neighborhood to a close.
At one point, over 600 people lived on the state-owned land.
One month ago, the final camper moved out and plans for land restoration began. Neighbors are reflecting on their first 30 days of living without the camp down the street.

Students Demand Action branch leader Gabriel Kelly said House Bill 1240 will allow students to focus on what's important and feel safer at school.
HB1240 would ban what lawmakers define as "assault weapons." It passed through the House and Senate, with amendments. Friday, the House ruled at least one of the amendments fell outside of the scope of the bill. It now goes back to the Senate for further review and action.
The future of the bill is in the hands of state lawmakers, but Kelly and Students Demand Action are celebrating the strides Washington is making toward a safer state and country for all.

I spoke to the mother of a WSU parent who said her sophomore was excited to move in to Aspen Heights with her friends. She walks me through the last months of headache, frustration and disappointment.
WSU told me affected students should contact the Dean of Students.

This officer-involved shooting closed 4 neighborhood blocks for at least 8 hours. Monday, I wondered how people in the community viewed this incident. So I went into the neighborhood to get reactions from homeowners.
Big shout out to my photog Dave Somers who was the biggest help on this shoot!! Thanks to him, I was really able to focus on laying out each of the neighbors’ stories to showcase the thoughts before, during and after the incident.
