Dedication #9️⃣ of 2024: Ronald McDonald House of Northeast Ohio (Akron House)

On 10/24, a Guardians of the Galaxy pinball machine was dedicated to the patients and families in Akron, HO! This dedication was in memory of Bob Smith, an avid pinball player lost too soon to the world.

We hope this amazing piece of Bob’s life will help relieve stress for patients who need a pick-me-up❤️ Thank you to all who donated to this fundraiser and to Cincy Pinball for donating the pinball machine!

Making small waves.
Making some news too.
Daniel from Project Pinball Charity has been busy sharing what a difference a controller for disabled and people with mobility challenges and kids too, can make.

What if?

What if a handful of goof ball friends made a controller for one of their own with SMA? To play some pinball?

What if we begrudgingly brought it to market?
Okay. That’s cool.

What if part of your life is a spinal injury? United Spinal Association
What if a year later, after much personal discussion, the same friends built a custom controller for Darren B, whose spinal injury does not negate his love for pinball? Buttons just wouldn’t work inside Daren’s abilities.

What if 3 years in, we met an acquaintance of Daren’s at Pinball Expo in the Project Pinball Charity booth and designed another custom controller for her?

What if Daren’s other friend was visiting and could hook up a Stern Pinball Zilla LE over the phone in 10 minutes? He’s got like 10 more games to get hooked up!

What if we all help bring pinball to more people including those with spinal injuries?
What if, what if wasn’t a hurdle?

Here’s to enjoying your games even more now Darren. Cheers.

But does it play normal?
Well what’s normal?
598,000,000 and wizard mode on Elton John? Not normal but done.
486,000,000 on Hot Wheels? Full Red Line. Not normal, but done.
396,000,000 on Venom? Not normal, but done. (“Your mother called….”)
Japan Pinball Association showing talent. Normal. Just cool to see the controller being adopted all over.
Great Tournament from some pros and semipro players throwing down with inclusivity!

Oh and a cup stacking rehab doctor? Not normal. But done and awesome!

A new friend with a spinal injury helping us create a new style controller for more accessibility to more people that want to play, on the fly? Not normal. But yes, that happened too.

Thank you Project Pinball Charityand our 2nd Freedom to Play Pinball Tournament at the 40th year of Pinball Expo.
Thanks for having us. And thanks to all 104 players for adopting a no nudge style, and being inclusive!

If you know someone with a disease or mobility challenges, a kid that can’t reach yet, a person that wants to learn more and be challenged, we’d like to hear from you!

Our community of people wanting more inclusion in PINBALL is growing.
Check out The Phils Pinball. They’ve done foot pedals for controls.
Adaptive Game Products and now Radioactive Pinball have one handed controls.
On top of our standard set of three designs, we’ve done several custom pieces over the past 2.5 years since we’ve started.
Pretty cool stuff! The no nudge world is growing.
