Last June, we visited the Denver Museum of Nature and Science’s North American Indian Cultures Hall before it was closed for good. These photos, taken by show the exhibit before it was shuttered. Joined by Joshua Emerson ( ) and DMNS ( ) curator of Chris Patrello, we learned more about the intentions of the museum’s use of imagery, artifacts, and storytelling; we also hear from Joshua on what it feels to experience this kind of exhibit as an Indigenous person. In the wake of a March 23 shooting at East High School, thousands of students walked out of class in protest, and the school board started what became an emotionally charged, highly controversial, three-month debate on the possible return of police to Denver Public Schools. They ultimately decided earlier this month that police should be a “persistent presence” in our schools, but not everyone is happy with that outcome. Host Bree Davies speaks with Board Vice President Aoun’tai Anderson about why the board reversed their 2020 decision to remove police from schools.

El Paso County Black ranchers’ give President of the Rocky Mountain NAACP, Portia Prescott, an update in their land dispute in El Paso County. A simple dispute over their property line quickly escalated with slaughtered livestock, allegations of a racist conspiracy involving the local sheriff, felony charges for the Mallerys, and nearly $200,000 in donations to a GoFundMe supporting their cause.
