Check out last night’s 100+ standing-room-only crowd to hear Lauren Gunderson! Gunderson, a Decatur native, won the Writers’ Festival contest in the one-act play category in 2002 and returned to take part in a round table conversation during the 50th Writers’ Festival celebration. She is teaching a one-week class as this year’s Kirk Writer-in-Residence at Agnes Scott. What a thrill to have her on campus!

Standing room only for last night’s event featuring Kirk Writer-in-Residence Lauren Gunderson! Thanks to all who came out!

I’m so looking forward to being in conversation with two of my favorite authors, Angie Cruz and Elizabeth Acevedo— what fun to have three generations of Dominican-American writers on stage together! And of course, I’m also excited to share my new novel with them and with you, a novel which is all about stories and storytellers who have been silenced or silenced themselves and now let loose. I wanted their secret stories to find a space on the page and in my readers’ imaginations where they could be heard and thereby inspire others to share their stories, too. Please join us for an evening in celebration of storytelling’s critical role in nurturing our souls and creating community.
