Today is CrossRoadsNews.Com Day in DeKalb County!
Curtis & I were recognized this morning with Proclamation from the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners.
It reads in part:
“Whereas, We comment Jennifer and Curtis Parker for their unwavering commitment to using mass media as a shaper of society. Providing newspaper readers the coverage that for decades, our community continues to count on; and
“Whereas, We, as a community thank Jennifer and Curtis Parker for their on wavering commitment to using mass media as a shaper of society, providing newspaper readers the coverage, that for decades, our community continues to count on; and
“Whereas, We as a community thank Jennifer and Curtis Parker for their ongoing courage and determination to be catalysts for change…and this distinguishes CrossRoadsNews as a part of the cement that stabilizes the foundation of our local government and community; and
“Now therefore, I, Commissioner Kathie Gannon, along with the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Commissioners, on behalf of DeKalb County and its more than 700,000 citizens, do hereby proclaim November 13, 2018 as ‘CrossRoadsNews On-line Day’ in DeKalb County, and encourage each person with computer access to visit crossroadsnews.com;
“And as the Editor John Green once quoted: ‘In the end, what makes a newspaper valuable is not the paper it’s printed on, but the thousands of hours of work by people who are dedicated to creating the best possible reading experience for you.’
“We thank the Parkers and CrossRoadsNews for continuing to inspire the vision of what is possible and what should be.”
Thanks Super District 6 Commissioner Kathie Gannon – in whose District our business is located – for sponsoring the recognition.
We were touched by the kind words of District 5 Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson, who was a long-time advertiser for more than 11 years in our newspaper, and supportive friend.
Thanks also to Commissioners Larry Johnson, Steve Bradshaw, Greg Adams, Jeff Rader and Nancy Jester for standing in support.
Our daughter Jami (4th from left) is on leave from her cruise director Job on Norwegian’s Pride of America, and was able to join us, along with our dedicated office Manager Catherine Guy (3rd from right).
It always heart warming when others recognize your work.
Today, our hearts were warmed!
