Brides and grooms… in lieu of doing an actual last call, put a sign on your bar that informs your guests what time the bar will be closing. That way the guests are aware of when it will close but when the time comes, you don't lose your dance floor for that last 30 minutes of the night.

How do you really want to end your night... with everybody gathered around the bar in line to get a drink, or everybody out on the dance floor celebrating until the very last song? The choice is very obvious. Do a "soft close", where the bar just.....closes!

New Pioneer FLX10 controller installed in my booth. Bought it on New Year’s Eve and used it for the first time at my first wedding of 2024! Looking forward to using stems to make beatmix blending even more fun and unique. IYKYK!

Two new laptops with internal SSD - geez why didn’t I switch to SSD years ago? Things are soooooo much faster. New skins for them as well.

Also, new separate Pyle mixer and new iPad placement. I really like this set up!

And I have to credit that to showing up fully prepared, along with my proactive involvement as the MC, making sure everyone is where they need to be, & keeping things flowing throughout the night. But all of that doesn’t just happen. It happens because of the many hours of planning together and personal prep work I do ahead of time. Note that not all DJs do this. Some show up unprepared, shooting from the hip, some sit (yes, sit) behind their booth, looking disinterested, just pushing the play button, and wait on someone else to tell them what’s next. Not me! Holly & Tate’s pre-first dance saber battle! I didn’t really think the dual camera thing through. Wasn’t aimed so well on either camera. 🤷🏻‍♂️ That’s why I’m not a videographer. Haha Thankfully my editing software allows me to zoom and crop. This is the best I could do. I fired off the sound effects for the sabers because with the “duel of fates” song playing during their battle, there’s no way you could hear the actual sound fx coming from their sabers.
