In short: The Dawson Springs Community Center.

The annual event is a luncheon and street fair event hosted by the Dawson Springs Community Center.

The Community Center is a non-profit organization, independent of any municipality or city-governed entity. The Community Center is overseen and managed by a board of volunteers, most of whom you will see each year actively participating in the organization of the BBQ event.

The BBQ is our main fundraiser for the year. The revenue from BBQ sales and street fair booth rental is what helps us set our yearly budget for the maintenance and upkeep of the Community Center building.

But really, the entire community benefits from the Annual BBQ. It’s a chance for us to gather and celebrate our traditions. It’s a fantastic opportunity for your church, athletic group, or club to host your own fundraising booth at the street fair. It’s a great time to volunteer and spend the weekend with top-notch folks who all love and appreciate Dawson Springs for being “a very special place”.

The Professional Women’s Club of Dawson Springs will be hosting the Miss Dawson Springs Pageant on Saturday, Jun. 25 and is seeking contestants.

Vanilla, Chocolate, Banana, Strawberry, Peach, Butter Pecan, Cheesecake, Coffee, Caramel Maple Praline, Caramel Praline Cheesecake, Cookies & Cream, Raspberry Delight (or Pineapple) They are in the process of rotating the raspberry delight out.

I am working on a list of options for shelter. I reached out to the Crofton FD and was told Dawson residents are welcome. Follow the page. They update during storms. They open prior to storms arrival. The address is 13511 Old Madisonville Rd in Crofton.

Madisonville told me: At this time there is not a designated storm shelter. Please call Hopkins County EMA and ask for Nick Bailey 270-821-5717 for further assistance.

It has been released that the Dawson Springs School can NOT be used as a storm / tornado shelter. That being said watch the weather and prepare accordingly. A community prepared is a community strong. What shelter options do Dawson Springs citizens have for any upcoming storms? Many tornado survivors are temporarily housed in campers and mobile homes. If you know of any shelters that will be opening please share in the comments. Thank you.

The River at Evansville Church will host an Easter Egg Hunt at Riverside Park in Dawson Springs on 4-9-2022. There will be free food and a toy giveaway. They will raffle off eight new bicycles. There will be face painting, balloons, and two jump houses.
Food will be served from 12:00 to 3:00pm. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 1:00pm.

All are welcome

The water level is currently good. Gates are currently closed entering from Mill Dam Rd & Hwy62. Depending on the water level Saturday access to the park may have to be made off Hwy 672. Cadiz Hill Rd that leads to Reddens Boat Dock. I assume that will be a day of event decision.

Thanks to caring individuals and companies all across the country, Tornado Relief Funds have been set up for Hopkins County victims of the December 10, 2021 tornadoes. We are currently surveying those impacted by these storms to learn what the greatest current needs are.

The Christmas Parade is Canceled.

The City of Dawson Springs parade will be postponed until Sunday, December 12th at dark thirty.
Due to the heavy thunderstorms predicted for Sunday at parade time, Mayor Smiley has made the decision to hold off.

Thanks for all who are entered and see you on the 12th.
This also leaves time for others to enter, we will continue to take applications until Thursday December 9th.

Biggest thing since mineral water! Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Truck is in Dawson Springs from 12-5pm TODAY (Wednesday) 10/20/21. Purchases will help support the Dawson Springs PTO. It will be downtown at 201 E Arcadia Ave. (Beside Workmans Station) If you don’t know where that is drive through town. It’s that big blue truck. Go support a good cause and get your pretzel fix.
