My first public event of 2023! Judge in a chili cook off benefiting children with special needs! Excited to be apart of this great event!

Introducing our third Chili Cook-Off judge, Nick Simons, one of the stars of Netflix's 28 Days Haunted!

Favorite Type of Chili: I like a hearty chili, not too thick though, I don’t want to eat a bowl of pizza sauce! Gotta have those big chunks of stewed tomatoes!

Favorite side to have with chili? Isn’t chili the main course, and the sides? If I had to make a side, it would be Garlic Bread!

Spicy/Non-Spicy: I love spicy, HOWEVER! I am not a fan of spicy when it’s pure heat. I can eat super-hot food, but what makes spice stand out from the rest is heat + flavor! I remember the 2020 cook off before everything got real scary with COVID, there was a ghost pepper chili that was super delicious!

Beans/No Beans: ALL THE BEANS!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are you excited to be a judge in our Chili Cook-Off?: The Hand in Hand Chili cook off has always been an event the wife and I have looked forward to attending every year! I always have a good time sampling the chili, and enjoying a couple “Golden Sodas” from the fair concession stand, chatting with people I know there, and bidding on all the things up in the silent auction. This years going to be different, I’m excited to be sitting up on the Judges table as the “Ghost Hunter from that one Netflix show”! I hope that me being on Netflix draws in even more people to the event, I’m excited to meet people, take lots of selfies with people, and tell stories about what its like being locked in a haunted house for 28 days straight! And of course EAT CHILI!!!!!!!!

Finally, a very controversial question. Do you like Cinnamon Rolls with your chili? I don't mind Cinnamon rolls with my chili, but I'm not a dunker, I enjoy them separately.
