Told through a series of dated journal entries spanning the spring of 1901, the story follows Eryk Pryther—a reclusive gentleman haunted by the spectral memory of his beloved Clara. What begins as a lament for a lost wife soon devolves into a confession of unspeakable sin and unraveling sanity. As the walls of Bittersweet Lane close in, and the sound of phantom footsteps grows nearer each night, the line between love and lunacy, remorse and damnation, is obliterated entirely.

Rosa’s prose evokes the brooding atmosphere of Poe and the moral rot of early Gothic fiction, yet his voice is unmistakably modern—intimate, feverish, and disturbingly sincere. Every entry drips with longing and decay, pulling the reader deeper into the mind of a man both tormented by guilt and enthralled by the beauty of his own ruin.

Cortland "Cort" James, a 37-year-old securities broker, sets out on a super secret mission to find the perfect engagement ring to propose to his longtime girlfriend, Elly.

Along the way, Cort meets New Jersey Transit Authority worker, Avanel Jimenez. Seemingly confused and disoriented, Avanel claims to be unsure of where she is, what her name is, or where she's from, with only her work vest and ID badge containing any possible trace of her true identity.

Angel Rosa is a multiple award-winning film producer, director, and writer. He is the founder and CEO of Hat City Pictures, an independent film production company originally based in the city of his birth, Danbury, Connecticut.
