Did you know that encouraging your child to blow bubbles while sitting on the toilet will help with potty training? 🤯
This allows your child to relax and will help your child to pass their urine and/or bowel.
The next time your child is having difficulty with potty training try one of these strategies:
- encourage them to pretend to blow bubbles
- if you have bubbles, let your child hold the wand and blow some bubbles
- give your child a straw and encourage them to blow through the straw
- give your child a cup filled with a little bit of water. Place a straw in the cup and encourage your child to blow bubbles in the cup
Let me know in the comments how this strategy worked for your little one!

Who doesn’t love receiving flowers? Here’s an idea for a flower bouquet that will last forever! And I’m sure the person reviewing these personalized flowers will love them!
Steps for creating you very own flower bouquet:
First, create handprints—as many or as little as you want. These are the flowers that will form your bouquet.
Then, once dry cut out each handprint. Be sure to leave a little white space around the handprint (this will make the “flowers” pop).
Next, glue long strips of green paper to the back of each handprint. Here you are creating the flowers and stem.
Finally, glue each flower stem in the middle of a piece of construction paper. Arrange the flower stems to your liking. Add any final touches to personalize the bouquet!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Are you looking for inexpensive toys for your child? If so, it’s worth it to check out your local Dollar Tree. Today we picked up these two pretend play kits: dentist and doctor.
Pretend play is beneficial for your chid’s development. It allows for creative thinking and expression, facilitates problem-solving and conflict resolution, promotes independence and develops social & emotional skills.
Pretend play ideas:
- With the dentist kit, you can model to your child how to properly brush their teeth. And have them practice brushing on the model mouth too.
- With the doctor kit your child can role play and pretend to be a doctor taking care of patients (aka stuffed animals)
These are wonderful toys that can provide many minutes of fun, teach your child life lessons and overall help with your chid’s development. Hopefully you can snag one of these pretend play kits at your local @dollartree

Creating predictable routines can work wonders for your child!
When a child can anticipate their day, they are better equipped to take on responsibilities.
For young children, I would recommend creating a visual routine chart. Having a visual chart allows your child to see what needs to be done, check off what task was completed, see what to do next and continue on with their day independently.

New year means new beginnings. Things we are leaving in 2023 are:
1) Fear of failure: failure is a learning experience
2) Self-doubt: build self-confidence and believe in yourself
3) Judgemental attitudes: practice empathy and understanding towards others

Creating a morning work journal for your child can give you time to enjoy that freshly brewed hot cup of coffee in the morning! ☕
Yes, it does take minimal prep time for you to do. But, it'll keep your child busy long enough for you to enjoy your morning fuel AND your child is learning.
This week, I created work pages that use dot stickers:
- matching the letters
- matching the letters AND colors
- sorting by color
- sorting by shape
With these activities your child is developing fine motor skills, practicing letter recognition, color identification, shape identification and early math skills (sorting).

A common misconception parents have about play is that play doesn’t provide opportunities for a child to learn academic skills.
However, play is a child’s natural way of learning. Through play, a child is engaging with and making sense of the world around them. Play encourages independence, problem-solving and motivation to learn.

As frustrating as it may be to have a toddler constantly throwing their toys, the reality is you can't stop your child from throwing.
Once your child realizes that what they throw must come down (aka gravity) they'll want to throw things more and more often.
Throwing takes fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, it's fun and most importantly it's a toddler's way of observing, experimenting and learning.
Instead of getting frustrated, redirect your child to what they CAN throw and where they can throw it.
A simple idea is to set up a target (in a safe place) and provide your child with items that you are okay with your child throwing.
Here, we set up targets with magnet tiles on our staircase and used lightweight balls to throw.
