We tried to add a little extra flare to the background of these dishes to add some color pop. Check out the BTS from the NWI Jazz Festival 2023 where I filmed and live-streamed the music performances with 6 cameras. Two of the cameras were on electronic sliders on either side of the stage with close ups on band members to give some extra dynamic movement to the edit. I ran the other 4 cameras from back by the sound booth using wide, medium, and two tight shots. This allows me to have one tight shot locked off on one of the main band members(like the singer) while using the other tight shot as a roaming camera to showcase whoever is soloing. I run the cameras through Cineview wireless transmitters to my Atem Mini Extreme ISO to be able to edit the video live. In this case I was live-streaming the video, but I always use the camera switcher even if I am not live-streaming because it saves time in the edit bay. I record in the cameras to their SD cards simultaneously so that I can re-link the high quality footage to the edit in post to deliver you a pristine full edit of your entire set. I then edit that down into a 2-3 minute video with clips of your choice to give you a highlight edit to showcase your work to fans and potential clients. I usually pull an audio feed from the sound boards and mix that with a room tone recording using a Zoom H6. This tends to work well, however it is always better to get a multi-track recording if the sound boards at the venue support that. In this case we were filming in a gymnasium so the reverberations off the walls provided a very challenging audio situation, but we did the best we could with what we were given and it turned out decent. I always suggest hiring a dedicated audio team to ensure the best possible audio and I can recommend some great audio recording companies to work along side me on projects if the budget allows it.

For Tech Nerds:

We used 5 cameras to film this podcast. We had 3 Lumix S5 cameras, a Lumix S1, and a GH5s. We used the GH5s for the wide with the Sigma 18-35mm lens and then used a Panasonic 50mm for the medium and 85mm for the tight shots on the Lumix S1 and S5 cameras. The tight shots were on Neewer electronic sliders. We used Godox SL300s for our key and backlights with Photix 105 softboxes. The fill light is a Neewer SL60w with a globe lantern modifier. We used Sennheiser 416 microphones to capture clear 32 bit float audio into the Zoom F3. We used Cineview HE wireless HDMI transmitters to transmit the video from each of the 5 cameras over to the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO. This allows us to not only view all of the different camera angles, but also live edit the entire podcast to save time in the editing bay. We also used a Hollyland Mars X transmitter to transmit over to the iPad so the client can watch the live switching in real time and write down any notes or feedback they have about the podcast. We recorded in 10bit 4k 30fps V-LOG in the cameras and then re-linked that footage in post to the Davinci Resolve file that the Atem Mini created so we didn’t have to re-edit. Follow for more!

Have you ever thought about how first responders and public officials learn to speak to the public on camera immediately following a public emergency? The answer is media training.

This is why Exclusive PR and Lakeshore Video have teamed up to provide media training to cities and governments across Chicagoland and the United States. In the pictures below you can see the behind the scenes of a media training we did with the city of Aurora, Illinois.

The first day of the training involves a presentation on how to properly respond when confronted by the media. We go over a variety of possible scenarios that public officials, police officers, firefighters, EMT's, and other first responders may run into and then test them to see how they perform when confronted by the media. We bring in all of the equipment necessary to simulate a press conference and an encounter with an influencer on the street so your first responders and public officials can practice their responses in a controlled environment with no permanent consequences. They may think they know how they are going to respond, but often times everything they know goes out the window when they get in front of the lights and cameras. We film all of the responses and give feedback to everyone so they can think about what they did right and what they did wrong before we bring them back in to see how they improved. The second day of the training allows them to go over their original response and correct behaviors to provide improved responses. Spending the time under the lights and in front of the camera in a controlled environment is the perfect practice they need to ensure that they will be ready when the time comes to perform under pressure. Check out the of shooting headshots for Gladish Law Group. David Gladish is one of my favorite clients because of his attention to detail. He wants all photos and videos to have a very polished look so I knew I would need to bring the MacBook to ensure we were able to review photos on a large screen before choosing our favorites. I used a Flashpoint AD600 Pro for my key light, two Godox TT685 speedlights for my back and fill lights, and a Yongnuo YN685 speedlight to light up the backdrop. I used a Phottix Raja 105 for my key softbox and two Neewer globe style softboxes for my fill and backlight. This is a great combo that renders beautiful light for my images. I was shooting on a Lumix S5 with a Panasonic 85mm lens. We tethered into the MacBook pro to automatically bring the photos directly into Lightroom as I shot them so we could review and pick our favorites. It's so nice to be able to see the photos on a large screen and actively edit them to be sure we will get the results we are looking for before leaving the shoot. I always ensure my clients are happy with my work before moving on to the next project, so this setup makes that mission a breeze. These photos will be used not only for David's business website, but also on billboards across Northwest Indiana.
