But isnt this annoying!? If you haven’t noticed the “annoying people” are winning at the game right now. But why are these 10 second clips of people shopping, or doing basic regular things taking off? It’s simple! You are giving your followers a perspective they would never have seen if YOU didn’t post it! YOUR FOLLOWERS WANT MORE OF YOU! Yup, they started following your channel because of you and they want to know everything that you are willing to share! So why does it really work? Here are a few reason: 👉 Your followers love an inside look at your life. What you dress like, what you shop for, when do you go shopping… All these things give them things to relate to YOU. They simply want an inside window to your life! 👉 Most people are seeking connection! By sharing a video of me shopping on Valentine’s Day for a huge heart shaped box of sushi might resonate with my followers. Maybe they also got the large sushi platter from Wegmans OR Maybe they will go get it now that you “inspired” them! 👉 the “wait for it” effect. You never know if a video is going to end with something crazy, so you keep watching because you want to see how it ends! You can’t look away… this increases watch time and will push your video farther and to more non followers!👉 Pairing it with trending audio makes this a slam dunk! You are triggering all the parts of their brain to say “I like this!” 🌟 Bonus tip: if you can make the audio hit right when the action happens in the video, this will have a bigger impact! I forgot to mention I was watching Suits and this hook made me stop my video and pay attention! That’s how good it was!
⭐️ but first - Save this post so you can come back and use this hook. It’s sooo good!
Hook: “I have to apologize but __________”
Here’s how I would apply it a few different ways:
1️⃣ “I have to apologize but I have been keeping a secret from you.” - then tell them about your new favorite product!
2️⃣ “I have to apologize but you might have noticed something about my videos lately” - you could let them know you have been working with a new service that has helped you with your content (aka following julietsocially 😉)
3️⃣ “I have to apologize but hear me out! Before I apologize let me tell my side.” - you want to tell them a new way to make something (like a recipe) and you are leaving the old way in the dust! This would be good for a technique you once used but no longer believe in!
You aren’t really apologizing for anything! You are simply letting them in on your favorite beauty item, or telling them why you love a product so much.

Increasing watch time is the #1 goal of every video!
👉Even though 3-5 seconds isn’t very long, when someone watches your videos for longer than 3 seconds it triggers the algorithm that they “stopped scrolling” which is super valuable!
👉First a video will be sent to a group of your followers. If your followers watch, engage, favorite and/or share your video it will be pushed to more of your followers.
👉This cycle will repeat with more followers and if the response is the same, it is then pushed to Non-followers (which hopefully will convert to followers!)
👉The more “non-followers” your content goes to the more likely you will be to gain new followers!
⭐️ Adding text to the screen will simply keep followers and non followers on your content longer, increasing your chances of gaining more followers! Bonus points of you deliver on the promise in the text, by the end of the video! 🥰 (viewers love that!)

To be honest I didnt start using all 3 until recently and I absolutely notice the difference!
3 types of Content Hooks:
1. The screen: something visually interesting, like a beautiful person, a colorful vintage jacket or maybe a huge mystery pallet 😉. You can also grab attention with words on the screen like “wait for it…” “watch til the end” or “did you know?” Like I used!
2. The verbal hook proposing a problem, that you are providing the solution to (in the content). I used “did you know about the 3 types of hooks?” And even if you did, most people will watch just to see if they were right!
3. And lastly and most importantly- the caption grab. That first sentence of your caption has the chance to change it all. Its the last grab before your viewer swipes! Give them something to stick around for!
