Beach Boys - Surfer Girl/Little Deuce Coupe & Guess Who - Laughing/Undun are 2 sided hits so a bonus for you. The Turtles - She'd Rather Be With Me & Stevie Wonder - Yester Me, Yester You, Yesterday are from the hitmakers.

The one hit wonders are Sgt. Barry Sadler - Ballad Of The Green Beret, a number one song from 1966 and The O'kaysions - Girl Watcher, a top 10 from 1968.

Audio Reprise #4. This air check is from New Years day 1987 to go along with the last post of our hit list. You'll hear snippits of a few of those songs along with a now VERY dated quote "OFF COMPACT DISC". In 1986 we had a cd player installed and we were "promoting" a better sound each time we played a song off of one. That promoting was short lived as eventually all vinyl was removed from the main studio and cd's ruled the airwaves. Until the computer.

This one flew under the radar but former WLSW dj Phil Victor caught it.

It was previously posted here about the WLSW call letters coming back to a new Scottdale station at 90.1 fm featuring religious broadcasting. Well, that station will be known as WLWS. Similar calls.

SO, tuning in to 103.9 fm for their top of the hour ID at 11:00am this morning, I heard WLSW Scottdale, Greensburg, Uniontown but still using the KHB jingles. WKHB reverts back to the original WLSW call letters. Now if they would only bring back LIVE DJ'S! I'm asking way too much there so we'll just keep reminiscing about them good ol' days. Still nice for Ludwig Stanley Wall's 1971 call letters to return. L S W.

As we all hope for good things in the new year, take some time to go back and check out our posts from the past year or two, especially those that are newer to our page. Check out the photo section for pictures of our past station members and pictures of our stations equipment. Some of it looks pretty ancient these days, but are great memories as to what we used to get through to our listeners. I.B. Curious remembers back in the 70’s when you would go to various malls and these new stores were opening up that made custom T shirts. They had all these cool decals hanging up or in a book for you to choose from and they would iron them on the shirt for you. Everything from "Keep On Trucking " to your favorite artist or group. (I.B. got a Joe Walsh shirt made at the Laural Mall). You could also get any message spelled out and ironed on right then and there. WLSW didn't have T shirts in 1976 so Joe Brian went to the Greengate Mall and had a couple made for himself and a few others.

Graphic Images in Connellsville started printing our WLSW FM104 T shirts in the early 80's. So, I.B. has 3 questions for you. Did you ever have a WLSW T shirt, whether you had one made or given to you? Did you ever have a custom T shirt made? And if you did, What did you have printed on the shirt? And there is NO SHAME here if you say Barry Manilow or Bay City Rollers!

For our Christmas GIVEAWAY this year, we think we've found something unique. In general manager Chris Molton's possessions was the Shure microphone that was used at WLSW FM104 starting around 1980. So many dj's over the years spoke into it and was easily used the most during the stations existence. It is missing the windscreen cover and it's unknown if it still works because it was replaced. BUT, it is a true relic of WLSW FM104.

In addition to the microphone, we have 4 Christmas cd's for your listening pleasure. Here Comes Santa Claus with various artists and Clay Aiken - Merry Christmas With Love for good old fashioned Christmas memories. Also, some soul for the holidays with Stevie Wonder - Someday At Christmas from the 60's and from the 90's Boyz 2 Men - Christmas Interpretations.

Here's what WLSW FM104 was playing 40 years ago today, December 7, 1984. One song got missed on the original type up. Moving down from number 2 to number 12 was All Through The Night from Cyndi Lauper. 1984 was Cyndi's breakout year with 5 singles released from her album She's So Unusual, 4 of them reaching Billboard's and FM104's top 5 positions on the charts.

Well, we're in the middle of our Thanksgiving record giveaway and I.B. Curious has another question for you to answer.

WLSW FM104 had many many giveaways and call in to win contests over the decades. We've had contests to test your knowledge (trivia), remote contests of pure luck (winning combination to open a safe), the" FM 104man" (randomly handing out stuff if you had our bumper stickers on your car or if you told him your favorite station was WLSW FM104 ), prizes handed out at one of our live remote broadcasts and of course simply being the correct caller at six twenty eight, twenty eight, double O to win.

Audio reprise #2. The Turkey Of The Year contest. Listen closely to this promo that aired in 1984 to hear the voices of the WLSW FM104 personalities at that time. I think Tank Sherman won the contest but can't remember for sure. It was only 40 years ago ya know!

Time for audio reprise #1. We're bringing back some air checks and other things from WLSW's past that you may have missed the first time around. Joe Brian was heard mostly in the late afternoons and evenings on FM 104 but worked every shift except overnights during his years here. This is from March 1981 when he was doing mornings.
