This past week, 8 students and alumni of the Beonair Network of Media Schools were selected to participate in the groundbreaking collaboration between Concacaf and P&G's Always, the Concacaf WW Broadcast Academy, launched to empower women and promote inclusivity within the world of sports broadcasting.

The Academy is designed to provide women participants an opportunity to explore a variety of career paths in broadcasting and to meet inspiring woman directors who have benefited from training and mentoring, and share the firm belief that in paying it forward, more woman will gain opportunity to flourish in an industry where they are currently underrepresented.

As these women moved through the week the focus included the concept of Host Broadcast, Soccer live coverage, and the art of storytelling. Learning was hands on and led by industry experts which included renown Director, Sigrid Lelièvre, an experienced multi-camera live sports director covering different world-class events for football, tennis, and handball.

Time was spent at EVS Broadcast Equipment and with the use of the simulator, the women received hands-on experience of live football TV directing and replay operations.

The final day of the Academy included the opportunity to see all of their training come to life at the Red Bull Arena during CONCACAF Gold Cup matches, with a visit of the TV Compound beforehand.

The learning experience of a lifetime, these women will continue to be mentored and grow in the industry.

The Beonair Network of Media Schools would like to congratulate our 8 students/alumni who successfully completed the training and are better positioned to launch their careers.

Ohio Media School graduate Debi Christo is very excited to refine her replay skills, inspired and motivated by her week at the Academy. Debi had this to say of her overall experience, “This has been the most amazing experience and I feel blessed, loved, and honored by my entire journey and everyone that I met.”

A special thank you to CONCACAF W and Always for providing this unique opportunity and training to increase the representation of women in jobs behind the camera in the broadcasting of both men’s and women’s football during a period of tremendous growth of the game in the USA. Breaking barriers, we are so grateful for this partnership that provides industry-leading education and mentorship.
