"Practice makes Possible."
I started using this motto several years ago in my personal martial practice, and now in my teaching/life. I hated the old saying that practice makes perfect, nothing is "perfect". We as humans are not perfect, never will be. So why is it that we continue down the slope of perfection, instead of climbing the mountain of possible?
When you work on something within yourself, not necessarily physical, we aren't aiming for perfection realistically. We aim for possible, because that is obtainable.
When I started working towards becoming a teacher of martial arts, I didn't work to become perfect as an educator. I've worked hard to be real, respectful, and passionate in my sharing of knowledge. I work daily to make these realistic goals possible.
Over the last 4 years, I've worked hard reading self help books, works on masculinity, going to therapy, and more to develop myself into a better person, a better friend, and a better Husband. While also understanding that I am very human, and that I will have days that I will stray from the character I have created.
I say all this to reaffirm the fact that we do all the hard work to make life possible. We do it to make goals and dreams a possible reality. We will sometimes get it wrong.
However, think of all the times that we get it right.
