Chauvin's attorney, Eric Nelson, filed the request alleging that the former officer's ability to have a fair trial was affected by pretrial publicity.
Shawn Jones Jr., 18, of Columbus is charged with felonious assault. Police said additional charges are pending.
At least eight people were taken to hospitals Sunday after a crash that left a car dangling off the guardrail.
: Former Columbus police officer Adam Coy, who shot and killed Andre' Hill in December, pleaded not guilty to a charge of reckless homicide on Wednesday.
Derek Chauvin will spend the next eight weeks at Minnesota Correctional Facility-Oak Park Heights — a maximum-security state prison from which no inmate has ever escaped in its nearly 40-year history.
After being convicted in the murder of George Floyd, the ex-Minneapolis cop had his bail swiftly revoked and he was transferred to the prison in Stillwater.
Chauvin — who is facing up to 40 years for killing Floyd during an arrest — will stay there until his sentencing.
The facility, which is about 25 miles east of downtown Minneapolis, has a reputation for being highly secure and housing some of the most notorious criminals.
Disturbing, Sad and worried that the city I called home is rated number 1 in police killings. We real police reform to change this narrative.

Kim Potter makes first court appearance in shooting of Daunte Wright
The former Brooklyn Center police officer is charged with second-degree manslaughter for shooting the 20-year-old motorist during a traffic stop.
Appearing via Zoom from the office of her attorney Earl Gray, the 48-year-old Potter said few words, acknowledging the judge's questions with the occasional yes and only appearing on camera for fleeting seconds.
During the appearance, which took less than five minutes, Judge Paul Scoggin set the date for Potter's next hearing for May 17 at 1:30 p.m., in front of Judge Regina Chu. He confirmed that Potter's bail has been set at $100,000, and noted that she must remain law-abiding, promise to make all future court appearances, and refrain from possessing or transporting any fi****ms.
Potter resigned her position with the Brooklyn Center Police Department Tuesday, and shortly before noon Wednesday was arrested and taken into custody by agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). She was booked into the Hennepin County Jail, and posted bond after Wednesday evening.
If found guilty, Potter would face a presumptive sentence of four years in prison (48 months) according to state sentencing guidelines. Minnesota's statutory maximum for second-degree manslaughter is 10 years behind bars, but experts KARE 11 spoke with say that would be extremely unlikely.
Potter shot and killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon. She and former Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon submitted their resignations Tuesday.
Gannon said he believes Potter shot Wright by accident, mistaking her gun for her Taser. Wright's family and civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who represents them, say they don't believe it was an accident. Crump pointed out that Potter worked for the Brooklyn Center Police Department for 26 years and even trained other officers.

The Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting by Columbus police after responding to a shooting call Tuesday afternoon in South Linden .
Sgt. James Fuqua, Columbus police spokesman, said police received a ShotSpotter alert and a separate 911 call about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday about a shooting at a residence on the 2200 block of Homestead Drive neat Clinton Street.
So the shooting that happen in South Linden this afternoon is still a mystery and apparently the police isn't ready to release a statement to the public. But I wandered if all the officers involved had their body camera activated.
