AFTER WEEKS OF INTENSE FRICTION BETWEEN 'WE THE PEOPLE' AND THE EVILS THAT HAVE SAT COMFORTABLY FOR TOO LONG, SEEING UNITY AND ''BLACK BOY JOY'' IN ONE PLACE WAS REFRESHING. THE MILLION MAN MARCH IN COLUMBIA, SC BROUGHT MEN (AND WOMEN) FROM ALL OVER THE STATE TO MARCH FROM MLK PARK TO THE STATE HOUSE STEPS WITH THE SOUNDTRACK OF MUSIC AND CHANTS. THE FOCUS WAS UNITY AMONG BLACK MEN/COMMUNITY, VOTER REGISTRATION , EDUCATION, KEEPING THE BLACK DOLLAR IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY, AND THE WORK AHEAD. SPEAKERS LENDED THEIR VOICES TO FURTHER ENCOURAGE THE CROWD. EVEN THE PD JOINED IN LOCKING ARMS WITH THE ORGANIZERS AND PARTICIPANTS. BLACK BUSINESSES , VENDORS, AND MUSIC WERE THE HIGHLIGHT AFTER THE SPEAKING WAS DONE. IT WAS BIGGER THAN THE SUITS AND SEEING BLACK MEN IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT. THIS IS NOT THE END, AND AS THE ORGANIZERS STATED , THERE IS MORE TO COME. SUNDAY UPLIFTED THE MASSES AND SEEING THE TEARS RUNNING DOWN MEN'S FACES (INCLUDING MINE) WAS INDICATIVE OF THE NECESSITY OF THIS. HISTORY WAS MADE.
