The group of about 30 citizens who spoke said that the concerts being held at Ford Amphitheater are negatively impacting their mental health, sleep schedules, property values, loved ones and pets.

The noise of unified applause from the citizens who attended August 27’s Colorado Springs City Council meeting to challenge Ford Amphitheater nearly rivaled the cacophonous concerts they came to make complaints about. The group of about 30 citizens who spoke said that the concerts being held at Fo...

On July 9, Colorado Springs City Council voted 8-0 to rezone these 8.1 acres of land for Colorado Springs Utilities to construct the new substation on the corner of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Goldenrod Drive. Four neighborhood residents spoke against the substation during the city council meeting, but to little avail.

With the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics coming up fast, the Olympic & Paralympic Museum will be holding a slew of events every single day of the competitions, from artifact showcases to sports demonstrations from athletes like Schultz.

On Sierra Madre Street looms a building that looks like an oversized, avant-garde PlayStation. The alien architecture of the building reflects the futuristic technology of the institution it houses, the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum. According to Monkia Celly, one of the biggest misconceptions Americans have about Indian food is that it is difficult to cook. Like any other cuisine, cooking Indian food is just a matter of learning the basics.

Growing up in India, Monika Celly’s family never celebrated birthdays. Every time they did, tragedy followed. Celly’s grandmother began to believe that birthdays held bad luck; so, in Celly’s childhood, she never once got her cake and presents. Now a mother of two in Colorado Springs, she goes...

Relief washed over the faces of Stephanie Horton and Scott Bradley when Bernie Brink, a bespectacled man with a goatee, entered the office of the humble Jazz 93.5 studio on North Weber Street. While Horton and Bradley both love jazz, they were happy to hand off questions on the uniquely American art...

Our Mission

As the Springs’ only alternative news weekly, the Indy is committed to be the local voice for the underserved and the voiceless in Southern Colorado.

Our award-winning coverage of local news, politics, arts, and culture is available in print every Wednesday at more than 900 high-traffic locations across the Pikes Peak region and online any time at www.csindy.com. We also publish the original Best Of Colorado Springs (each October), the Colorado Springs Insider annual guide for new-comers, our Dish local recipe guides, and our ReLeaf cannabis guides. Always free of charge, and no paywalls.

We strive to have a positive impact on our beloved community by making the Pikes Peak region a more informed, more tolerant, more ecological and a more fun place to live. We are proud to be independently owned in the era of corporate media and humbled to serve Southern Colorado, but our mission extends outside the newsroom. Each year the Indy partners with other local media for our annual Indy Give! campaign, which has raised $9.6 million for local nonprofits since its inception.
