Our Issues, Etc. Book of the Month is Dying to Live: The Foundation, Focus, and Shape of the Christian Life, Second Edition by Harold L. Senkbeil

Visit the timeless rhythms of the Christian life with award-winning author Harold L. Senkbeil. As he addresses the concerns and pressures of the world today, you'll discover that even while the world is dying, Christ's death brings about life. True life. One that He offers to you.

This new life stands the test of time and endures through the challenges of our dying world. While paradoxical, Christ's death is necessary for Him to guide you through death to life everlasting. Explore how this truth informs your entire Christian life, providing the Incarnational foundation, Sacramental focus, and Liturgical shape for your day-to-day.

In a dying world, let your journey be shaped by life—the life of Jesus, given for you.

What’s New in the Second Edition?
Foreword from Rev. Dr. Robert Kolb
Updates to reflect cultural and technological changes
Updating Scripture to the ESV translation
Updated Scripture Index

Our Issues, Etc. Book of the Month for January 2025: Lamentations - Concordia Commentary by R. Reed Lessing.

The book of Lamentations, marked by its tone of mourning, loss, defeat, and heartache, provides neither a pleasant nor an easy read. Nonetheless, it meets us in the valleys of suffering we inevitably face, offering a glimpse of hope in God’s faithfulness. Rev. Dr. R. Reed Lessing is here to walk you through this valley, providing insight on the history of recent interpretation; theological, Christological, canonical, narratival, and pastoral features; historical setting; authorship; addressees; date and place of writing; genres; poetry; voices; theodicy; and place in canon.

Order from CPH at

R. Reed Lessing takes a close look at recent interpretation, historical and canonical settings, genres, and more in the book of Lamentations.

The Pastor of the church counsels and guides the members with the Word of God.
