UPDATE: 4:40 pm, Press Release

On October 28, 2022, at approximately 2:15 pm, CPD received a call from Cheer’s Wine and Spirits, 366 New Byhalia Road. The business reported that a suspect was attempting to take several bottles of liquor. As officers arrived on the scene, the suspect got into his vehicle with several stolen items and as he was trying to get away, he attempted to ram one of our officers who was still in his vehicle. Officers pursued the suspect to the area of Frank Road and Bray Station where the suspect wrecked his vehicle, then ran on foot. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect in the Almadale Farms Subdivision, at Wolf River Blvd and Houston Levee.

At this time, the suspect, Kirk Sandifer, 39 years old from Memphis, was charged with Theft, Aggravated Assault, Felony Evading Arrest and Reckless Driving. This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges are pending. No injuries were reported during this incident.

UPDATED AT 3:33 PM: Suspect is in custody. He was fleeing a shoplifting and attempted to strike a responding officer with his vehicle while fleeing. There is no threat to the public as this incident is closed by arrest.
