Episode 426 - The San Francisco Witch Killers is out just in time for Halloween. A strange tale of two lovers who met during an acid trip and who soon convinced themselves that they'd met a 1,000 years ago, that a war would soon be breaking out on the Oregon/California border, and that a lot of people were witches and psychic vampires and stuff who needed to die.

We got a shocking one today, meatsacks! I had no idea about Ireland’s Mother and Baby home scandal until I dove into this research. Ireland was just about the worst place in the world to be a single mother in the 20th century. It’s crazy what was allowed to happen to single mothers and their babies until very, very recently.

Timesuck 424 - The Puppet Master: Robert Hendy-Freegard is out everywhere! For over twenty years, this wannabe secret agent/dork literally made his living telling crazy lies. There are a lot of BS artists out there, but very few ever pulled off lies quite like this walking turd.

This week's Timesuck subject is a fascinating serial killer from the early 20th century, Carl Panzram. He's been referred to as the Meanest Man Alive, a One Man Apocalypse, and as the most evil serial killer ever. I think plenty of other serial killers were more sadistic, but I don't know if any other truly hated humanity in general like Carl did. He's suspected by some of killing over hundred men although he confessed to only 21. He's also believed to have r***d over a thousand men all across the US and abroad, from California to Pennsylvania, Panama to Angola, and also in Europe. He was imprisoned in at least seven locations, and hunted by authorities on three continents. And when he was hanged at the age of 39, he not only showed no fear of death, he almost ran to the gallows, and taunted witnesses and his executioner alike. A must listen for any true crime fan!

Orson Welles might have pulled off the best unintentional prank of all time back on October 30th, 1938 when he panicked thousands of people who legitimately thought that hostile Martians were butchering Americans in droves and they would soon be next. Hey everybody! Did you know I’ve been working on a bunch of horror fiction this year? Please check out my new series, Nightmare Fuel! It’s on the Scared to Death podcast feed. I’m having a blast writing these. I’m really proud of these creepy little stories. Today, the sixteenth episode in this collection comes out. This week’s installment is called The Wishing Box. Doug Byrne stumbles into a strange little antique shop in downtown Santa Monica called Relics & Curiosities, where he purchases The Wishing Box as a birthday gift for his wife, Olivia. He quickly learns that the box truly does grant wishes. But will those wishes be worth the price he must pay for them? Hope you listen and love it!

Timesuck 415 - The Kidwelly S*x Cult is out now! This is a dark one. The cult's leader, Colin Bartley, really knew how to take the fun out of cult s*x. Colin was obsessed with the occult teachings of Aleister Crowley, and twisted those teachings to abuse his followers and their children in truly disturbing ways in the small Welsh town of Kidwelly. Not sure you'll "enjoy" this one. But I found it darkly captivating.

Sorry - missed this post yesterday 😬 This week's episode is fever dream crazy. Literally. The Taiping Rebellion was started due to an interpretation of one man's fever dreams, Hong Xiuquan, and those dreams led to over a decade of fighting, the deaths of 20 to 70 million people in the mid 19th century, and a bunch of cult craziness. Can't believe I knew nothing about it just a few weeks ago. Hope you're enjoying it!
