You may or may not now that I have a limited series podcast out, called Stories My Brother Used To Tell. It's a fun podcast about my Gen X brother Eric's poor decisions as a teenager in the 1980s.
Here's a clip from Episode 1 -The Maritza Story. 15 year old Eric is shocked when his older brother (not me) asks him for a favor. Shocking since they never talk. But this favor will lead to a ridiculous sitcomesque (is that a word?) night of hiding a girl in his closet and trying to outwit his father.

There's a new episode out this week. What's it about?
Elaine May will always be best known for her comedy with Mike Nichols and her screenwriting skills. However, as a director May is an uncompromising force who seemingly would do whatever it takes to get her vision on the screen. This episode looks at the great lengths May went to in order to get Mikey and Nicky, a lifelong passion project, made and what that lack of compromise cost her.
Author Patrick Cooper, director of photography/cameraman Jack Cooperman, and an unnamed crewmember help tell this story of a seemingly simple production that was anything but.

New episode dropped on Tuesday. What's it about?
The death of actor Peter Sellers in 1980 also seemed like the death of the Pink Panther film series. Instead, director Blake Edwards decided it was a new beginning. A beginning of numerous lawsuits, several flops, and one unseen television pilot. Author John LeMay and actor Charlie Schlatter help tell the story of what happened when Blake Edwards kept trying to keep the Panther on the hunt.

I was fortunate enough to be a guest on the Soundtrack Your Life podcast, talking about one my favorites, Inside Llewyn Davis.
Twice a month, Ryan Pak takes a look at a soundtrack. Whether it be a song, a band, or a connection to a specific scene, he discusses personal connections to the soundtrack, either with a guest and/or co-hosts, Brandice Wilson and Nicole Barlow. Episodes are released on 2nd and 4th Mondays of each m...
A listing for Squirrels to the Nuts, Peter Bogdanovich’s original cut of She’s Funny That Way, is on blu-ray.com with a 2024 release date. We went over the story of the very unlikely discovery of this director’s cut in our latest episode. What do you think of this artwork/poster?
ICYMI - The latest episode of The Industry tells the story of Peter Bogdanovich's final film, She's Funny That Way. It came & went quickly in 2014. A disappointment. But it wasn't really the movie that Bogdanovich made. That was another movie called Squirrels to the Nuts. Studio interference led to many changes, including the title. Bogdanovich's cut was considered lost.
Years later his cut was finally found. On eBay.
Hear this incredible story with a real Hollywood ending.

Godspeed, Jim Brown.
In 2019 I released a podcast episode about filmmaker Patrick Read Johnson's seemingly endless journey to finish his autobiographical film 5-25-77. Three years later that journey has finally ended.
So as 5-25-77 hits streaming (via Showtime) this week, I figured it would be a good time to update this episode with new conversation with Johnson, to see what it took to get to him to finally put his film to rest.

In 1975 the first US-Soviet Union co-production, The Blue Bird began filming. Director George Cukor, and actors Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Fonda, Patsy Kensit, Cicely Tyson, & Ava Gardner all went to Leningrad to film a movie meant to foster goodwill between both nations. It did not go as expected. Listen to the story of The Blue Bird on The Industry, available wherever you get your podcasts or at https://www.industrypodcast.org/blue-bird/
