Celebrating Christmas with Clifton and Meridian

It looks a lot like Christmas at the Bosque County Courthouse!
Mrs. Koonsman’s first grade class at Meridian Elementary had a hand in decorations this morning, adding their own special touch to the tree out front.

Be sure to join the City of Meridian for Christmas on the Bosque Saturday, with the Christmas parade beginning at 6 p.m. and traveling down Main Street, ending at Meridian City Park and Chisholm Trail Plaza.
Check to see if you made the nice list and get your picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy tasty refreshments and play under the lights.

Meridian Public Library began the move into its new location today with plenty of helpful hands. Volunteers of all ages helped move the children's section across the street, one armload at a time.

We continue to honor our veterans with the Clifton Elementary fourth grade music program followed by the annual veterans tribute hosted by the Bosque River Valley Chapter, NSDAR yesterday in the Clifton Performing Arts Center.

Today we take the time to say thank you to those who had the courage to put our country first.
Veterans at Lutheran Sunset Home were honored with a special ceremony awarding 14 Quilts of Honor, thanking them for their service.

Are you as excited about Crossroads coming to Bosque County as we are?!
Crossroads: Change in Rural America, part of the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street traveling exhibit, explores changes in rural American communities through the 20th Century, creating dialogue as viewers take a closer look at their own history, connect it to the present and prepare their communities for the future.
Today, the museum and volunteers, along with the Texas Historical Commission, are busy unpacking and building the exhibit opening this weekend.
One of only seven rural communities selected in the state of Texas, Crossroads opens at the Bosque Museum in Clifton Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m.
On display through Dec. 1, Bosque Museum will be open with extended hours and additional free entrance days. Community events have also been planned to accompany the exhibit, like Town Nights where the Bosque County residents are encouraged to share stories about their town, and community walking and driving tours.

Jenney has been missing now for a little over a month. She's lived at 1636 FM 708 Clifton for nearly 15 years. If you have seen or have her, please call 254-253-0778.
We had her since she was a baby, born in Meridian, and greatly miss her.

Replacement of the bridges on FM 219 east of Clifton begins next Tuesday. Work is expected to be completed in 2026.

Work will begin next Tuesday, Sept. 3 to replace the bridges over the Bosque River on FM 219 east of Clifton.

A come-come-and-go gathering will be held in remembrance of Katherine Jacoby of Country Creations in Clifton this Saturday, Aug. 3 beginning at 2 p.m. at 215 N. Avenue D. in Clifton. The gathering should last a while so please make plans to join family and friends as we remember Katherine.
