Of all my young years, I got a chance to eat at Kon Tiki twice. In fact, when the Hotel Cleveland was sold over to the Sheraton brand, I would always stop at the Coffee Shop almost daily. They had the best coffee, then suddenly, the Statler across from Halle’s started making coffee better and bottomless. But I would always stop after work get some coffee from the Sheraton on the way home on the Shaker Rapid. Had great memories. As for Kon Tiki, they had the best Polynesian food around but they were always packed.

If you grew up in the Southwestern part of the state near Cincinnati and Monroe Ohio, this establishment should be very familiar to you. This is LeSourdsville Lake/Americana. This was the staple amusement park that was chief competition to Coney Island which was located along the Ohio River. It was not far from Kings Island, practically down the road. It was a nice small park that had a wicked coaster named the Screechin Eagle and a log flume that got you drenched. The food from what I remembered was pretty decent too as I came from Northeast Ohio and enjoyed picnics there. It lasted from 1922 to 2002.

Euclid Beach was located on the shores of Lake Erie In Cleveland, OH. The park was a walk-in park (no admission) and one of the finest amusement parks in Ohio. It was located on 72-acres that had lots of shade trees, benches and pavilions so families could bring picnics to enjoy the sights, sounds and wonderful rides.
