The infrastructure of the podcast universe is broken because it wasn’t created by you, the podcast enthusiasts. Our mission is to reconstruct it by arming participants with tools that lead to a more friendly environment for creators and a more enjoyable experience for listeners.
Under the current model, podcasting will never unlock its full potential for education, expression and connection in a time when that may be what the world needs most. Above all else, we intend to accomplish our mission while not only preserving, but enhancing all of the things that made us love podcasts in the first place.
Over 800,000 podcasts exist with 2,000 more created each week
The two primary ways to find podcasts are
Word of mouth (family, friends and colleagues)
Algorithm supported recommendations that never seem to get it right
We figured there had to be a middle ground, so we created Hubl!
To help us, as a society, move forward
Society moves forward as a result of freedom of expression and a relentless hunt for truth. Without those two things, we become an echo chamber where we, as Tim Urban put it, “repress free speech, hinder learning and growth, and foster delusional arrogance.” The combination of these things make us, as a society, incapable of finding the truth (or even genuinely trying). We need to applaud those who start the hard conversations with people who have opposing views because they are the ones who help us progress. The podcast universe is the place where we can all go to listen to these conversations and seek the truth free of judgment.
“Sometimes the greatest adventure is simply a conversation”.
As we listen to podcasts, we are connected to the world around us and introduced to new ideas and perspectives. We become more intelligible about subjects that we may have never been given the light of day had it not been for podcasts…
Because of this, podcasts improve our odds of being able to have a meaningful and informed conversation with another person, whether that is a friend, a family member, or a complete stranger.
While this all may seem trivial, take a look around…
Sincere human interaction is becoming more and more rare. The obvious culprit is technology, more specifically social media. While it has connected all of us online, in reality, it has stolen our attention. It has fooled us into thinking a piece of plastic with a screen is more enticing than the people around us.
Podcasts accomplish what it seems few things can nowadays. They bring us together by effortlessly giving us something to talk about. Join us on For The Love of Pods and find that podcast episode that you can’t stop thinking about. Discuss what you learned and why you are passionate about it. Listen to what people have to say even if you don’t agree, embrace their perspectives, enjoy a quality conversation.
