With the release of their debut album just this past weekend, we welcomed into the studio to talk about the dedication and hard work they’ve put in over the past year to carve out their own niche in the local music scene. Lead vocalist and guitarist AJ shares insights into the deceptively complex songwriting process, why “Good Things Last” stands out as one of his favorites from the album, and his thoughts on why mascoted characters just don’t resonate with him.

We also dive into the “genealogy of rock” (Mom, Dad, Aunt, Cousin…) and reveal a startling truth about which band member isn’t a fan of Steely Dan—a revelation that raises some eyebrows among the rest of the group. Remember, folks, everyday’s a season.

We Got Thic™️ in this episode with a ‘band of hired guns’ - ! This episode was fueled by the love of perfectly worn-in jeans, adult slide whistles, and honey mustard. Just like when you see Thicarus at a show, you never know what’s going to happen next in this interview.

This band is comprised of all full-time musicians who are living the life of going gig to gig, practice to practice, but still come together to do what they love together, and it works SO WELL. This group does a lot of things well, explaining one of the more unique approaches to songwriting that we have heard on this show. They also are calling out some bands in here BY NAME, so look out, all you horn bands of Cleveland...

In this episode, we dive deep with Enzo and Eric of , a rap duo whose musical journey has been nothing short of legendary. From recording their earliest tracks under a blanket to performing on stage in San Francisco, these guys have really found a way through the past few years by leaning into their unique style and reaching out to some of their favorite artists to record with.
We also hit on some great memories including when they inspired Jurbz’s brother at a show and that universal experience of listening to an indie album on vinyl in high school. Catch their performance of their newest single “What I Say” at the end of this episode!

This week, we brought out of his studio and into ours for a special episode of his own, following his feature on Chayla Hope’s episode last year! While recording and producing others music at 78th Street Studios is his bread and butter, Nate also plays and creates his own music as well! We got to hear more about what he calls his “passion project” and the wisdom he’s gained while touring internationally with . We also get nostalgic and break down what might be the most complete full-circle moment we’ve had on our show thus far. Spoiler Alert: This is almost Nate’s third appearance on our show which was news to us!

From Madstarr last week to JET STAR this week, we are truly talking to some artists that are out of this world. This interview has us in a bit of a tizzy, inspires us with her story of rising from her literal death bed and performing her first gig the day after her predicted death date. She has a beautiful outlook on life - that everyone is worthy of having a good time - and weaves that energy into each song she releases and every word she says.

We also get our first mom in the studio who has some wonderful things to say, healing every inner child across the board. Hearing about JET STAR’s background and upbringing provides us with so much more insight as to how this beautiful soul came to be (guess which artist’s song made her cry at 5 years old). We also talk about a trip to AND in California, the infamous story of the exploding tour van, and sing the praises of the Underdog, Garage Band.

This week, we sat down with alternative hip-hop artist for what may be a bit of an unhinged episode. Covering an array of random topics - from day jobs, to finding the beauty in adulthood when it feels so good to cancel plans. We unpack some of the cringiest times in the late 2000’s, from Myspace to that one Tyler, The Creator music video we can’t forget.

After a music hiatus of 6 years, Madstarr shares that collaborating with sparked the flame of making and creating hip-hop music. (Peep our episode with him and you’ll understand why too!) With Everwild happening this weekend, we thought it was the perfect time to catch up with the Cleveland band that started it all, . They reflect on the time when it was a simple pool party to the amazing event it is today, attracting thousands of people to Legend Valley in August each year.

Joining us at Rock and Roll City Studios opened a floodgate of memories for the founder of the band, Roads, of when the band was still in its early days. He advises to keep pushing through any difficulties to get to that 10-year milestone when the results of your labor really start to show. These guys laid heavy groundwork to get to this point, from making waves before and after sets, to showing up at the RNC to cause a commotion. They are entertainers first and foremost, but we are also proud to call them Clevelanders.

After a two-year wait, their brand new album “Royal Grove” is on all streaming platforms, and it’s widely agreed to be their best work yet. We go down the rabbit hole and are unsure if we ever come out by the end of this episode. Cleveland hip hop artist is an absolute blast - his storytelling and amazing dry humor is a combo that keeps us on our toes this whole episode. With him, his accomplice and longtime friend, manager, you name it, - creator of Cleveland clothing line that has been sported by many on stage, $herby Gang (who is working on a new collab with Shway Papers, more on that soon!).

This chat contains pretty much everything you can think of - from historical hip hop beef to musicals and a dash of Country Boy Twang. Pico also looks back on some of his favorite onstage antics he has done in the past, his favorite venues to perform at and some killer collaborations he’s been working on with other Cleveland creatives.

In honor of the 4th of July weekend, we had the one and only in the studio for this awesome episode. We go back with Unkle Samm, and seeing where he is artistically now compared to where he was when we had first met him in 2019 is so inspiring. This year, he bet on himself and became a full-time artist. From his experiences, he shares with us some insight and tips on making that leap.

Before this, he spent the past 5+ years traveling to and living in some major cities in the U.S. for work, and creatively promoted his music along the way. It wasn’t until living in Cleveland that he really was able to find his people, grow his confidence, and truly build the Unkle Samm brand. We talk about how he filmed many music videos here in Cleveland, the humiliation of filming one in public, and using some behind-the-scenes footage from a music video as content on her Hinge profile (PS, it kinda worked!).

He will be releasing a single this month and is currently taking pre-orders for new merch, so follow him on Instagram and send him a DM to get yours! Thank you, Unkle Samm, you’re always a pleasure to have around!!

We've been a little quiet in 2024, but ListenCLE is back with an exciting opportunity for local performers.

We have several downtown areas designated for supported busking (performers will receive a stipend in addition to any tipping) to provide street entertainment during a large national conference, August 10th-13th.

We would LOVE to see a wide range of acts join us for this event: artists (live art/painting), performance artists (living statues, drag acts, etc), circus/acrobatic performers, musicians, magicians - you name it, we'd love to find a way to get you out and about with us!

We’ve been chewing on what questions we wanted to ask Joey of .teeth for quite a while now, and the time has finally come. So, naturally we share our own False Teeth stories (i.e. recalling times we have seen actual false teeth, shoutout grandparents). We also reminisce on the shared childhood experience of enjoying a crisp Code Red on a summer’s day and talk about the behind the scenes at False Teeth’s most recent big show - the Solon Summer Camp Fest at crobar.

Joey shares some ‘sound’ advice for artists performing at small venues and while exposure is an intangible asset, you still need to know your worth when it comes to gigging. Plus, we have Joey break down the first half of newest song “Colder Than Hell” and tell us about their live taping of the iconic 2023 EP “Live! At Scranton Dental”. Guys, you don’t need therapy – you just need to listen to False Teeth.

Giles has been a friend for years and joined us in the studio on multiple occasions for his part in , to share his music with us in 2022, and most recently when he joined us for our very first LG LIVE back in October. Giles touched so many lives, radiating love, sharing his ideas and artistry. Our conversation in our episode with him encapsulates who he was to the people around him. He was kind, honest, creative, wise and real.

It is kind of funny that the interviews where we meet the artist for the first time in our studio always end up being absolute riots. Today, we are joined by singer/songwriter with a mesmerizing voice and amazing sense of humor. We really speed run through our relationship in these 50 or so minutes and learn about her skills of fanning fog machines, being lost in a desert, and the first song (jingle?) she ever wrote.

Clare has incredible stories and we know we are only scratching the surface in this chat, so listen to her album Peculiar Places to get a deeper look into the magic that is Clare Feorene. Hope you all are having a great Memorial Day Weekend! We invited long-time friends of the show The Baker’s Basement into the studio to talk about their upcoming album “Down Down Domino”, releasing in November, and plenty of other topics we needed to catch up on. have been a part of the show since it’s first month when we were still on the radio, and have seen us in many phases and adaptations.

Adam and Kate have a wildly interesting approach to songwriting and music in general. We shoutout all birds of the world and discuss the utilization of all the rooms in their house for recording purposes. And just so you know, where there’s The Baker’s Basement, there are buckets.

3 days ‘til Music is Mother! Performing in our Friday lineup is Cleveland native, Sadhu, a gifted lyricist with a smooth, soulful voice. Sadhu is a self published, independent artist that has enjoyed music from a young age and got her start singing in the youth choir at church. Further championed by her family and peers to pursue music as a career, Sadhu plans to bring her music to a world stage by performing solo as well as singing lead in the band, S.Y.S. (Save yourself). In the music video of her new single, “Love Me”, Sadhu is seen playing in a ball pit singing, “I grab myself, and hug me, I don’t need no company,”depicting how self love can be fun.
