Views for days from atop Great River Bluffs State Park in Minnesota ⛰️

This short hike delivered an awesome look at the Mississippi River below. I took this photo over the summer while exploring Minnesota and Wisconsin (where the Mississippi starts its journey) and this week I’m headed to where it meets the ocean in Louisiana 🎺

I want to live by the water. And I’m too picky about it either, I’ll take lake view, river view, ocean view or maybe even a pond if it’s a nice clean one 🌊

Bodies of water has been something that I feel has defined my life for as long as I’ve existed. I was born in a beach town and even after moving from there when I was still a child, I was partly raised in a boat going on fishing trips with my dad and sometimes that meant just walking down to the local pond for a few hours 🎣

Then I returned to a beach town for my college years where I once again fell in love with the breezy ocean air and just the all-around relaxing environment of a coastal area. Now as an adult, I still love sitting on a beach, a dock or any other platform on the water. I love to kayak and still like to cast a long when the weather’s nice 😅

All this to simply say, I want to live by the water again.

Could you imagine living on an isolated island in the middle of Lake Superior with nothing but water surrounding you at all times? What’s worse, the island is called Devil’s Island 👀

Well for those that once tended to this lighthouse, that was their reality and honestly.. it may have not been that bad of a gig. I mean, I think we can all agree that being away from the general public isn’t always the worse thing in the world 😅

Exploring small towns is definitely a favorite pastime of mine, so I’m going to share three places you HAVE to visit in Gordonsville, Virginia ⛰️

⛰️Krecek Kakes - this coffee and breakfast shop is the perfect way to start your day when exploring Gordonsville! Their patio area is a straight up vibe and the best spot in town for a cup of ☕️
⛰️Jackson & Company Market - after that nice cup of coffee, walk right across the street to discover a fine selection of baked goods, homemade meals and more!
⛰️Well Hung Vineyard - not only does this restaurant win the most numerous name award 👀 but serves up some great dishes and even better wine, which makes it the perfect place for an end to a day exploring this Virginia mountain town 🥂

Have you ever been to Gordonsville? Make sure to save this and start planning that trip now!

Hawaiian Beaches are dreamscapes. Simple as that and I don’t think anything could ever change my mind.

Red Oak II outside of Carthage, Missouri is the closest thing to a revitalized ghost town that I’ve been too. The restored buildings amongst the old rusted out vehicles really creates an interesting setting as you walk the dirt road that circles the small town.

The original Red Oak was a small town in Missouri that eventually became a true ghost town until it was born again through the vision of an internationally famous artist that wanted to bring his hometown back to life.

If you find yourself traveling through rural Missouri, or down Route 66, Red Oak II is a must stop for a visit into the past. I for one wish this diner was still open! 👀

Why is it that the Oklahoma portion of Route 66 is just a lot of very large road side attractions? 🤔 Are they trying to squash the “everything’s bigger in Texas” motto? You decide 🐳

I’m slowly but surely catching up on my travel photos that I have been hoarding since September of last year 😅 So here’s some of my favorites from traveling Route 66 in the beautiful state of New Mexico 🧳 That slide number 5 though 👀

1. The entrance to the Glorieta Pass Battlefield Trail (the furthest western battle fought in the American Civil War). While there isn’t much to see in this photo, the colors just make me love it 📸
2. Petroglyphs National Monument in Albuquerque
3. Sign marking the Continental Divide of the United States.
4. Pecos National Historical Park
5. Just a simple classic backhoe car. Everyone had one of these right?
6. Bomber plane at the National Museum of Nuclear Science

Scenes from Arizona along Route 66.. This was state number 34 for me on my travels in the US and I truly believe that some of the nicest people I’ve ever encountered called it home 🏠

I mean honestly, if it weren’t for the scorching summer heat, the snakes and multiple other venomous things, I might could consider living here 😅

Locations in order of appearance:
1. Sitgreaves Pass outside of Oatman, AZ
2. TowMater in Seligman, AZ (personally my favorite Arizona town)
3. Pete’s Gas Station in Williams, AZ
4. The famous Jack Rabbit at Jack Rabbit Trading Post
