This month's theme is Supernatural Horror and we start with Burnt Offerings(1976). This is a very effective slow burn movie. The horror is subtle and restrained and the tension just builds and builds to a shocking finale. It may be a little too subdued for some but it really worked for us although it definitely could've used some editing. The slow burn is a little too slow sometimes. The cast is really good and the performances are really in tune with the tone. We also loved the house and it really is a character of its own. A nice start to this month's theme!

Night of the Night of the Living Podcast Month, aka NOTNOTLP, wraps up with Night of the Seagulls(1976). This is a very mixed bag of a movie. It creates some good atmosphere and has a lot of character but it also has flaws. The characters act in frustrating ways even for a horror movie. The filmmaking is iffy and there are lots of plot problems. But the story itself is interesting and it does create an eerie mood. Freddy and Amy overlooked any shortcomings and liked the movie but Andy not as much. A decent end to our Night Of The movie titles.

We went and saw The Monkey today and Andy had to be extra and dressed as The Monkey 🐵 He is very silly.
And speaking of silly, that is exactly what the movie is but in a good way. This is not a serious movie. The premise is inherently silly and Oz Perkins really plays up the humor. It knows what it is and just a fun time. This movie is bananas!🎶B-A-N-A-N-A-S 🎶

Our Night of the Night of the Living Podcast month, NOTNOTLP, continues with Night of the Lepus(1972). This is pure schlock and camp! Giant bunnies wreaking havoc?! You had us bunnies but everything else is a wonderful bonus. This movie was just a bad idea because it is very hard to make rabbits scary. Cute things don't stop being cute when they are giant sized. The film didn't do anything to make the look of the bunnies monstrous or deformed. They're just big bunnies. They did their best to convey giant sized with miniature sets and bunnie costumes but the results are inconsistent. The science is iffy at best and characters make many bad decisions throughout. The cast is great though with many familiar faces. This is just a silly and cute movie 🐇

Our Night of the Night of the Living Podcast, aka NOTNOTLP, theme month continues with Night of the Creeps(1986). This is a cute cult classic from the 80s. We loved how it mixes genres and the homages to horror icons. You can tell that writer and director Fred Dekker loves the genre and had fun with this movie. It is chock full of 80s-ness with bully fraternity bros, zany sidekicks and eating morgue workers so it hits your nostalgia bone. The script is kicky and there are great practical effects too. Tom Atkins is always great to see on screen and he is one of the best parts of the movie. It is a little flawed like the ugly aliens, bland lead couple and some plot holes but overall a fun creature feature.
