Our Vincent Price tribute month, aka Vincent Price-A-Roni, wrapped up with our pal Dustin's suggestion, Tales of Terror(1962). Vincent Price in a horror anthology of Edgar Allen Poe stories directed by Roger Corman?!? Yes, please! This movie is heavy on the Vincent Price as he is in all three segments and narrates as well. Like all anthologies, there are varying degrees of success. The middle segment with Peter Lorre is the strongest. He and Vincent are a hoot! The other segments are fine but the middle is chef's kiss. Vincent Price gets to show his versatility as each character is quite different. The movie is well directed with some very cool imagery. A nice finish to a wonderful month. Thanks for the pick, Dustin!

Please don't watch War of the Worlds. It is really crass product placement and really not worth even a hate watch.

Our Vincent Price tribute month, aka Vincent Price-A-Roni, continued with House of the Long Shadows(1983). This movie features horror icons Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, John Carradine and Vincent Price. Our expectations were high and the movie mostly met them. It takes a little while to get going because the icons don't appear until the second act but once they are all together it really takes off. It was so fun to see them on screen together and they looked like they really enjoyed it. There are some really delicious moments of dialogue between them. The story itself is secondary and has some plot holes and it had one too many endings but who cares? A creepy mansion and these legends are all we need. A flawed but fun movie!

Vincent Price-A-Roni, our Vincent Price tribute month, continued with The Bat(1959). This was a very cozy and cute whodunit. It is very gentle and low stakes and the murders are handled very, very delicately but it still keeps you interested and guessing. Everyone is sus! It is like a parlor mystery meets Murder, She Wrote. The story is kinda silly and there are lots of leaps but the cast elevates the material. Agnes Moorehead is a standout and Vincent Price is his usual reliable self. A nice little movie!
