Shout out to The Old Globe Theatre for presenting the stage production of “Fat Ham,” in support of Black talent and Black lives of all shapes and orientations. As we approach cookout season, what better way to get ready for summer than a trip to the theatre?
Fat Ham is a comedic take on Shakespeare’s Hamlet, but this story follows Juicy, a young q***r Black man who is confronted by the ghost of his father during a Southern family cookout. This ghost also demands that Juicy avenge his father's murder. Juicy, already familiar with Hamlet's predicament, tries to break the cycles of trauma and violence.
