Eleanor Y. McClain of Old Town, 79, passed away May 4th, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Chiefland. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lamb of Old Town.

Jan Christaan Hildreth, 69, of Archer, FL, passed away on May 3rd, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Chiefland. He moved to Archer from Ft. Myers 21 years ago. Mr. Hildreth had worked as an auto salesman and was a member of the Oak Park Baptist Church in Archer and a member of the Amvets in Bronson. He was a loving and caring husband and father. He loved automobiles, golf and dogs.
Mr. Hildreth is survived by his wife, Judy Hildreth; three sons, Larry Jensen of Ft. Myers, FL, Michael Jensen of Oklahoma, and Richard Jensen of High Springs, FL; a sister, Darlene Erkinto of Archer, FL; and two nephews, Tim Hildereth of Alaska’s Kiani Peninsula and John Hildereth of Orlando, FL; seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Alexander J. Bertolotti, 90, of Crystal River, passed away Sunday, February 28th, 2016 at Seven Rivers Hospital in Crystal River. He had lived in Crystal River since 1972, coming here from New York, NY. He was a member of the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Crystal River. Mr. Bertolotti had owned a restaurant in Greenwich Village called Mother Bertolotti’s and had trained many horses at Belmont and Aqueduct and was very successful at it. He was a member of the VFW, Marine Corps League and enjoyed baseball and horse racing.
Mr. Bertolotti was survived by his wife, Norma Jean Bertolotti; a daughter, Stephanie Alexander; three grandchildren, Scott, Amanda and Douglas Habermann; and two great-grandchildren, Duke and Vienna.
There will be a Wake at Strickland Funeral Home in Crystal River on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and a Service on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Mr. Bertolotti will then be entombed at Woodlawn Cemetery in New York.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to to U.S. Marine Corp #1139, P. O. Box 2773, Inverness, FL 34452.

Sherrie Marisa Jerrels, 52, of Starke, passed away on Saturday, February 27th, 2016. She was a Medical Tech Support and was a member of Hague Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jerrels is survived by her mother, Annie Nell Brown of Interlachen, FL; her husband, Jeff Jerrels of Starke; two sons, Winston Jerrels of Tallahassee and Jared Jerrels of Starke: one daughter, Madison Jerrels of Beaufort, SC; one sister, Valeria Monica Connell of Swarthmore, PA; and one grandson.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 5th, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Knauff Funeral Home Chapel in Chiefland, FL with a viewing one hour prior to the service. She will be interred in the Kirkland Cemetery in Chiefland.

Betty Lou McQuaig Sowell, 84 of Chiefland passed away Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. Born in Port St. Joe, Fl, she moved to Chiefland from Wewahitchka two and a half years ago.
Mrs. Sowell worked as a receptionist for a radio station and was a mother and homemaker and worked very hard for her family. She loved to read and spend time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte (Mark) Frye of Cairo GA, Kathryn Hatcher of Chiefland FL, and Donna (George) McDougall of Cairo GA; a brother, James L. (Julia) of Port St. Joe FL; and three grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family will be having a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 19th, 2016 at the Millville Cemetery in Panama City, FL.

Ralph A. Dahlstrom, Jr., 82, of Chiefland passed away January 18th, 2016. He owned and operated Ralph’s Burger House in Chiefland for about 40 years. Before that he had opened the first In & Out Restaurant in Gainesville in 1959. Ralph believed that his clientele was paramount in the well-being of his successfulness. He enjoyed helping and sponsoring many activities involving youth in Chiefland and the surrounding areas.
He was survived by his children, a son, Dale Dahlstrom of Tampa, FL, two daughters, Deanna Deese of Gainesville, FL, and Debra (Roger) Huffman of Ashville, NC; seven grandchildren, Justin Deese, Gainesville, Erica Deese, Gainesville, Kimberly Ward, Chiefland, Jonathan (Samantha) Rain, Chiefland, Tabatha (Kevin) Hoover, Williston, Aaron Dahlstrom, Ashville, NC, Taylor Huffman, Hickory, NC and 8 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dana Dahlstrom.
Services for Mr. Dahlstrom will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Knauff Funeral Home Chapel in Chiefland. There will be a Visitation one hour prior to the service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Haven Hospice in Chiefland.

Daniel C. Woods, 68, of Branford, passed away on January 9th, 2016. Mr. Woods moved to Branford a little over three years ago coming from Christmas, FL. He was a truck driver, driving produce and refrigerated trucks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, Debra Woods; three sons, David Woods of Starke, Daniel Chris Woods of Bell; and Richard Woods of Bell; one daughter, Shelley Danette Arrington of Gainesville; one sister, Margaret P. Stanley of Newberry; and 5 grandchildren.

Edwin William Winch, Jr., 75, passed away January 16, 2016. He had lived in Chiefland 5 years, coming from Holiday, FL. He was a member of the Chiefland Assembly of God. Mr. Woods was a Building Official for a Government Building Department and a member of the Building Officials Association of Florida, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, guns and working.
Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, Kathleen Winch, a son, James Allen Winch, Sr. of Peru, Indiana, two daughters, Kristina D. Richard of New Port Richey, FL and Kathleen Renee Miller of Chiefland, 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Roger Ellis Damron, 79, passed away January 15th, 2016. Born in Fellowship, FL, he has lived in Chiefland the majority of his life. Mr. Damron owned and operated Damron Refrigeration and had served the tri-county area for 60 years. He enjoyed hunting and auto racing.
Mr. Damron is survived by his wife, Mary Damron; a son, Roger (Rachel) Damron, Jr.; a daughter, Jan (Jeff) Bennett; a brother, Chester Damron; and 4 grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Knauff Funeral Home Chapel in Chiefland. Arrangements are under the direction of Knauff Funeral Home in Chiefland.

Eugene J. Amore, 94, passed away December 3rd, 2015. He had come to Chiefland in 2003 from Old Town, FL. Mr. Amore served in the Army Air Corps from 1939 to 1960 and then retired from Civil Service in 1972. He enjoyed the outdoors, singing karaoke, the American Legion, the V.F.W., and the Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd W. and Ella Marie Amore. He is survived by his wife, Joan Bateman Amore, two daughters, Michele Broughton and Wendy Littrell, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sleatha Jane Cannon Gore passed into her eternal place of abode on December 6th, 2015 at the age of 97. She was born on July 12th, 1918 to Lincoln and Martha Cannon in Cedar Key, Florida.
Mrs. Gore was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Cleveland Gore, three daughters, Dorothy L. Harper, Margie M. Lee and Willie J. Ray. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Betty S. (Randolph) McElroy of Trenton, FL., Audrey M. (Johnny) Parrish, and Linda Gore, both of Chiefland, four sons, Edward Gore of Andalussia, AL, Ira (Linda) Gore, Wesley Gore, and Leslie (Elwanda) Gore all of Chiefland, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 10th, 2015 at Church of Christ in Chiefland at 2:00 pm with the funeral to follow at 3:00 pm.

Frances Hilton Burnett, 93, passed away at Haven Hospice, Chiefland, FL on Saturday, December 5th, 2015. She was born June 4th, 1922 to James and Lottie Hilton in Bronson, Florida. She was a member of the Bronson First Baptist Church. She served 27 years as a bus driver and school secretary/bookkeeper for Bronson High School.
Her husband, Ray Burnett, preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Dave) Shewey and Kathryn B. Crews, a son, James (Linda) Burnett, seven Grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Services will be on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015, starting at 11:00 a.m. at Knauff Funeral Home Chapel, Chiefland, FL with Reverend David Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before the service. Interment will follow at Rosemary Hill Cemetery in Bronson, FL.

Our beloved James Phillip “Bud” Light, Jr., 70, passed away Thanksgiving night from complications from A.L.S. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, he retired in Archer, Florida. He was a 30 year veteran of AT&T. (formerly Southwestern Bell). He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Jill and a beloved son, Jeffrey, his two sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Betty Chapman of Little Rock and Benton, Arkansas, and the final blessing in his life was the birth of his granddaughter, 1 month old, Julieanne.
First, he was a Christian, he was an Eagle Scout, which he loved. He earned a Business Degree and a B.A. in Education and was a C.W.A. Union and Telephone Pioneer. He never knew a stranger, he was blessed with the friendships of the great telephone company people he and Jill both worked with, he loved and liked the many friends he had in Bronson and Gainesville, especially the A & A Restaurant and the Bronson Restaurant. He would want everyone to be especially kind to each other. And he so enjoyed being a lifetime “Arkansas Razorback” and cheering for the Florida Gators (when they didn’t play Arkansas). Also he said “God bless you all for your friendships to him and his family.”
He passed away peacefully in his sleep at Haven Hospice, which we thank them for their excellent care of “Mr. Buddy.”

Dennis W. “Pops” Short, 67, of Chiefland, FL passed away November 21st, 2015. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he moved to Chiefland four years ago. Mr. Short enjoyed spending time with his family and watching football, Nascar and wrestling. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Short: two sons, Jeff Horne and Rodney Short; a brother, Marvin Baggett; a sister, Carol Short; and four grandchildren. Angela K. Whitehead, 20, of Adams, NY passed away November 23, 2015 as a result of a car accident. Ms. Whitehead had only lived in Adams for the past five months, she had spent most of her life in the Williston area. Ms. Whitehead played multiple instruments in the Williston High School Band and was a member of the 2013 class at Williston High School. After High School Ms. Whitehead received degrees as a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist. Ms. Whitehead was of the Baptist Faith.

Ms. Whitehead is survived by her parents Rosanna and Donald Whitehead, Sr. of Williston, her brothers Donald Whitehead, Jr. of Morriston, FL and Joseph Whitehead of Williston, and her boyfriend and soul mate Daniel Fleming of Adams, NY.

The family held a memorial service for Ms. Whitehead Saturday, November 28, 2015. The Whitehead family would like to thank all the family and friends for all their love and support as it takes a whole village to raise one child it takes one child to bring together a whole village.

Minnie S. Boyette
Mrs. Minnie S. Boyette, 91, of Chiefland, passed away on Monday, November 23rd, 2015. She worked as a grocery manager for a number of years. Mrs. Boyette was a member of the Chiefland Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, walking and reading.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ibbie Miles & Ella Sheppard, her husband, Leonard Boyette, a daughter, Linda Sue Bennett, and two brothers, Bob (Vivian) Sheppard and Eddie (Doris) Sheppard.
Mrs. Boyette is survived by her son, Leonard "L.R." Boyette and a daughter, Mary Ellen (Bill) Beasly.
A service will be held on Friday, November 27th, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Chiefland Church of Christ. She will be interred at the Chiefland Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27th, 2015 at 10:00 am also at the Chiefland Church of Christ.

Anna Rae Roberts
Anna Rae Roberts, 79, of Rosewood, FL passed away November 21, 2015. Mrs. Roberts was a retired Coast Guard licensed fishing guide in Cedar Key. She was the past Madam President of the Cedar Key Eagles Club Aerie #4194 Auxiliary.
Mrs. Roberts was an avid fisherman and loved to read and write short stories. She was a past columnist for the Cedar Key Beacon newspaper and the Eagles Newsletter.
She moved to Cedar Key for the first time in 1956 and then lived in Kokomo, IN, Hartford, AL, and was residing in Headland, AL when she moved back to Cedar Key in 1982.
She is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Marie Monroe and her daughter Diana Kay Hughes all of Cedar Key. She also has 3 children buried in Kokomo, IN.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband William P. “Bill” Roberts of Ocala, FL, one son Steven D. “Steve” Monroe of Gastonia, NC, one daughter Alice M. McKee of Cedar Key, 3 step-children Raymond Roberts of Ocala, Donna Leeward of Ocala, and Paul Roberts of Ocala, 4 sisters Mary Lou Monroe of Gainesville, FL, Janet Townsend of Lake City, FL, and Joyce A. Marsh of Bronson, FL, 1 brother Robert M. “Bob” Monroe of Virginia Beach, VA, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
To celebrate Mrs. Roberts’ life the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-6 PM Tuesday, November 24, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to the Cedar Key Eagles Club Aerie #4194 for the Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund.

Lonnie Shelton “Buddy” Crews, Jr.
Mr. Buddy Crews, 85, of Chiefland, passed away on October 19th at Haven Hospice in Chiefland. He was born in 1929 in Dixie County to Lonnie and Willie Roberts Crews. “Mr. Buddy”, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Trenton High School in 1948 and was a life-long resident of the tri-county area. After graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served in the Korean Conflict in 1951-52 where he received an honorable discharge.
Buddy was a retired businessman and farmer. He loved his cows and growing watermelons. He was an outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting and going to the hunting camp. He was a member of the Gulf Hammock Hunting Club where he served on the board for many years as well as past president. He was also a past president of the Chiefland Lions Club. During that time his team had the most eye donors of any club in the state. He was a member of the Hardeetown Baptist Church in Chiefland.
Mr. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rose Crews White.
Mr. Buddy was survived by his wife of 54 years, Earlene Campbell Crews, two sons, Steven (Shelia) of Chiefland and Shelton (Dawn) of Tallahassee; Four grandchildren, Alyssa Crews Howard (Brock), Brian Crews, Cole Crews and Nicole Crews; Brother-in-laws, Jim White, Fanning Springs and Osborn Barker (Lori) of Chiefland, Edwin Campbell (Jane), Grinell Campbell (Joann), Sister-in-law, Bonnie Cleland (Robbie); One aunt, Anna Margaret McMeekin, Hawthorne and cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Hardeetown Baptist Church, 1716 NW 14th St, Chiefland, FL 32626.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at North Florida Regional, Ayers Medical Rehab Center (Trenton) and Haven Hospice (Chiefland) for the unbelievable care Mr. Buddy received.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 24th, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Hardeetown Baptist Church in Chiefland.
