My guest from the Peace and Justice Program sent me this info for those of you who might be able to help young Afghans stuck in Pakistan since the Taliban take over. Please, if you can. I know everyone is stretched thin.
From Kathy Kelly, Peace Activist: "A network of international “buddies” stays in touch with the young friends living in
Pakistan, encouraging them to learn Portuguese, study Portugal’s rich history and culture, and continue building a strong, resilient community. It’s hard. All of the young people deeply miss their loved ones in Afghanistan. They long to help their family members who continue to face desperate circumstances. We feel edified by their care for one another as they cope with traumas caused by war and human rights abuses.
"Our international team sincerely thanks the vast network of people who have shown steady, strong generosity toward young Afghans seeking safer havens. We hope you will consider assisting the next iteration of “Barakat Leiria.” Expenses for visas, transportation, housing, food, personal allowances and project
oversight are covered through donations from individuals and groups. To make an online donation, please visit The AJ Muste Foundation for Peace and Justice page
dedicated to this cause:
