Rascal is an arts & culture publication for kids and teens that strives to provide pathways for problem-solving, exploration, and deeper thinking, while placing emphasis on philanthropy, inclusivity, and kindness. We want to serve the community by offering free and affordable programming, family resources, and by raising funds to feed back into after school programs. We need to wholly support and

champion our youth if we want to take a serious crack at keeping them off the streets.

Unity Park Advisory Council (UPAC) is thrilled to present our 24th-annual PumpkinFest. The beloved neighborhood event invites families to celebrate Halloween with free activities, including the return of our annual favorite: the Unity Park pumpkin patch (sponsored by *play) where children can pick their own pumpkin to decorate. There will also be face painting, a spooky photobooth, free popcorn and candy, a DJ, and more!

New this year is a Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead station to celebrate the Mexican heritage holiday. The station will feature an "ofrenda" (or "altar de mu***os") and crafts activities for kids. The ofrenda will be dedicated to Chabelo, a Chicago-born Mexican entertainer, who passed away earlier in the year.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes and join our parade at noon.

The event is staffed by volunteers from UPAC and City Year Chicago.

Unity Park Advisory Council is a local group of neighbors who work together on maintenance and upkeep of the park, creating garden and art projects, and planning and hosting special events at the park. We’ve been a PAC since 1993, but originally organized in 1986 when the park was a concrete playlot known as Playlot 293.

This event is for all-ages and free to the public.
