ugh an active and growing fan web-presence. Both Records: is an artist-owned label, based at Studio Octavia in Northern America. Definition: Both- one and the other; two together. Both Records is an American independent record label that originated in 2010 by musicians Jillian Speece and Nathan Hoff (otherwise known as The Bergamot). After completing their first successful American tour in the fall of 2010 they found themselves frustrated by the lack of authentic mainstream artists. Indeed, throughout the tour Speece an Hoff were contacted by major record labels but were unimpressed with the approach. In Los Angeles, California during the last stet of their first national tour they became further frustrated with the outcome of their efforts in pursuing and being perused by major labels. Thus they decided to create their own. The bottom line was they felt their ideas and creativity would flourish significantly under their own label. Speece and Hoff are the type of characters who are persistent, creative, and want to have their hands in every element of their music. Given their eagerness to have the last say on matters such as “creative control”, starting Both Records seemed like the best decision for the pair to make. Speece and Hoff put their college-educated brains together and started Both Records which operates with the goal of promoting original music while conjuring up new innovative ideas to further the spread of kick ass original music. The label’s name refers to a vintage road near their hometown in Chicago, Both Avenue and also to their life goals together, in working as a pair towards a shared dream of spreading authentic music to positively impact their worldwide audience. And so it was, Both Records was born.
