Well this was a whole lot of fun! I got asked by Todd Rossnagel of the Shoving Wilco podcast to call in and give my take on their March Madness style Wilco bracket that has now reached the Final Four! If you follow my podcast, The Song Seekers, you might have heard me do a bracket on air, which is what led them to reach out to me. So much fun to contribute and I’m so grateful for their kind words about my podcast. They do such a phenomenal job and this whole bracket has been really fun. I’ve known Elizabeth Gomez and Kim Nelson for many years and have always admired them as creative individuals and fantastic writers. I was so happy when they agreed to be on my podcast to talk about all things creative. It’s not 100% about music, but it’s an episode I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Is their music talk? My late friend Joe Campbell is on my mind today. He loved music so, so much. But beyond that he was a lovely human being who always had a smile, kind word, hug, great story, and overall just welcoming presence. You always felt special around him. While I’m sad to say goodbye, I know he’d want us to keep dancing, singing, and rocking. At the last Wilco show we went to together, he asked if it was okay if we moved from the center of the stage, a little further right so he could watch Glenn Kotche drum. I was more than happy to oblige, and as luck or maybe serendipity would have it, in doing so we ran into other wonderful Wilco friends. I think he just had a presence about him that drew others to him. Maybe it wasn’t an accident. Here’s to you, Joe!
