Received a $10,000 check for, “Air Jordan” last year after a very popular record label wrongfully claimed royalty rights to my song. I fought with them for 7 months after noticing the track was missing from my monthly statements. I own 100% of the IP because I was indie when I produced, wrote & recorded it. Eventually, they dropped the claim after having no grounds to seize it & I received 1 lump sum since Soundexchange was stacking everything in escrow. Had no idea God started me a savings account to help start my new company, SoundArt Technology Lab launching this Saturday. Ended up being a blessing in disguise.
